They might even double down on the smart moves and trade him now! Am I the only one that would rather J Smoove as my PF over Monroe?

edit: I think SVG can be that guy but they need to clear either Smith or Monroe before the season starts. If they keep Smoove at SF and force him to shoot from deep then he'll suck and Detroit will suck.

I think it's a problem that they won't be able to trade him for great value because of the QO. Smith has said he's doubled down on post training during the off season but we'll see. I think Smith will play zero minutes at SF this year. Certainly for defensive purposes, I'll still take Smith/Drummond over Monroe/Drummond. I wish there was a way we could nab Bledsoe. EDIT: Oh, and Monroe can veto any trade.

That's brutal for Detroit. They've just got to get rid of one of them.

Two examples I can think of: 1) Jason Richardson, a high-flying slasher early in his career had a mid-career transition into a 3 point ace, 2) Vince Carter also a high-flying slasher/ball-dominant scorer has become a 'pick his spots' role player. I forget if Jason Richardson got injured, but Vince is of course due to age/accumulated injuries and loss of athleticism. Few players have just totally transformed their games on a whim because it was actually better for them. Well, Smith transformed his game from an athletic post player to a 3pt chucker. ![]() I'm praying it was a product of the terrible 3 big lineups and poor spacing, and the fact that the Pistons only had .5 good 3pt shooters last season (Singler from the corner.) We should have 3-4 legit 3pt threats this year.
