Southern California is nice this time of the year. Northern California, too, as long as the ground isn't shaking.

Lin is actually not as bad as most people think. He was mis-used heavily in Houston, as a spot-up shooter who can't touch the ball. His defense is also actually not below average, regardless of the garbage media likes to repeat. He has a solid jumper now, pretty athletic, good passing / vision, and freaking elite penetration with average defense. You let him play the offense, and good things happen. Melo / Stat came back to team and disrupted the way Lin played during Linsanity. After he was traded to Rockets, Harden was the primary ballhandler, and Lin was relegated to the bench because Harden had atrocious defense and Beverly was needed to cover Harden's bad defense, as well as Mchale simply did not like Lin

On the positive side (for Lakers fans), I think there's a good chance that Kobe will want Lin to do well and help carry a large offensive load at this point in his career. All of his recent interviews and comments about where he is in his career and where he seems himself indicate that he's cognizant of his limitations due to his age and injuries. I've also read statements from Kobe about how he wants to become more efficient on offense. This is all talk at this point though, so it definitely remains to be seen, especially since this is Kobe we're talking about.
