That would be terrible. I know a kid in the south who plays hockey solely because the Arizona Coyotes had a great development program for kids who want to play that starts young and continues into juniors. The same thing goes for the panthers and sorta for the Preds (Except they have more wins). Those teams are expanding the sport in a way that is really important for the game.

Meanwhile in Florida, great promotion of the sport.. Seems to be really catching on out there in the deserts...... And no that is not a pre season game or exhibition game etc. We used to get more people at the games for Hamilton Bulldog regular season games... It's great that they try and develop young players in the area but by costing people tons of money, having empty arenas and teams that no one cares about does far more damage to the sport then the good of getting an extra 50-60 kids playing hockey each year. Think of all the other cities that would greatly benefit from having a team in the same ways, just more effective and efficient.
Face it, Hockey just isn't going to catch on in Florida or Arizona. Those teams are just a giant money sink hole. Meanwhile Quebec would sell out every fucking night and reignite some awesome rivalries but will never get their team back because Bettman wants to bring a team to fucking Vegas...
TLDR: The desert is where hockey goes to die, Quebec deserves their team back, Bettman is a jack ass.

It may have been a better idea to try to develop grassroots or astroturf hockey leagues in the desert before moving in there. You need some sort of fanbase to sell tickets, and they never had that.

This is so annoying.
Basically, a bunch of fucks in Glendale are just trying to get the Coyotes out. This would be okay if they didn't do so much 3 fucking years earlier to get the Coyotes into their stupid little city, but I digress... Anyways, they couldn't find any financial reasons to terminate the contract, so the current excuse is that one of the people who negotiated the deal on Glendale's side was effectively an employee of the group that owns the Coyotes.
Hockey goes to die in the desert? Weird how ASU now has a div I hockey team, and ice rinks have been popping up all around the Phoenix valley. NHL hockey has a place in AZ, but not in Glendale, with a population of ~200,000. A city that small can't support a team that is going to have rough spots. If the Cardinals were still shitty and the Coyotes were a fairly strong team, Glendale could be trying to kick out Football.

Last I checked, Tampa Bay was in Florida, was it not? They didn't sell out once in regular season, but I'll give you they are doing decent. Large part thanks to Stamkos and a good amount of Canadians who vacation there goto see games cuz it's dirt cheap compared to getting tickets here.
But even with Tampa Bay doing decent, it nowhere near levels out Florida Panthers and Arizona. Arizona couldn't sell out when they where giving tickets away for free as a promotion to get new fans for fuck sake.
But I'll concede and give you Tampa, but teams in deserts 99% of the time are a bad idea. Especially when you consider how well a team would do if you put it back in Quebec or even let Hamilton, Ontario have them like we were so close to doing. My main point is, there are THOUSANDS of places that would do infinitely better with a hockey team over Florida and Arizona.

Next season is their first season in d1. They may not technically be in yet, but here's a link. http://www.thesundevils.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209771702
The Coyotes haven't been bad nearly as long as other teams. They were in the conference finals 3 years ago. What was Buffalo doing 3 years ago? Edmonton?

The problem with moving a team to Quebec City is repeating the Nordiques experience all over again. It may be too small of a market to support a professional team.

WTF was that Bishop T_T........so far luck not on our side this game...Crawford offers one and Kucherov doesnt bag it and then Bishop does the same but Sharp does not miss T_T
Edit: Kucherov injured also...god.

Great game so far despite the lack of goals...hope this game is not decided by that stupidity between Bishop and Hedman......
Edit: NVM!!!! GOAAALLLLLLL!!!
|
Watching that Sharp goal again I can't even blame Hedman for running over Bishop. He was so far out it was stupid and Hedman didn't even see him coming. Its oddly satisfying to see a goalie get punished for trying to make a risky play like that

Well tampa has been better on the road then at home but this seems like a Chicago in 6 final T_T

not surprising.
its not like it was TB's year anyway. on the other hand, they will be a force to reckon with for several years to come. Maybe the Chicago-L.A.-Chicago-L.A. trend can come to an end!
