There are a lot of people in the Korean skating federation that ought to be fired right about now.
Total medals for the Korean men in short track: 0 gold, 0 silver, 0 bronze Total medals for Viktor An: 2 golds, 0 silver, 1 bronze and a good shot at a fourth medal.
So if you try to be maximum unsportsmanlike and fail, you don't get DQ'ed?? wtf? Chinese girl tries to grab the leading korean right in front of the goal line but misses... This can cause terrible crashes.... and is imho much worse then ignoring who is leading in the corner, what causes a ton of DQ's...

It didn't influence the race, I've never seen them DQ for things that don't involve people falling, crashing, or losing speed drastically.
I'm chinese and am rooting for chinese and was worried whether that would cause any sort of penalty.

Last euoprean championship a skater was DQ'ed for showing two middle fingers at the leading skater. It was a bit weird, as he was DQ'ed from th overall ranking, but not from the team race in which it happened. But still. Unsportsmanlike conduct can lead to DQ... and showing a middle finger is at least without any dangers or even the intention to damage your opponent and change the result of the race... unlike what had happened here
Fun fact: the men's 5000m relay B final contains the every former Olympic champion in the event: South Korea (1992 and 2006), Italy (1994) and Canada (1998, 2002, 2010).
Well, that was a bittersweet race for Canada. Usually beating the Koreans means gold, not sixth.

Really, that was your only worry? If my countryman would have done that I would have been ashamed of him/her and pi** on the medal

There was no impact on race, it was a silly thing to do. I'm not going to worry about shit that didn't affect anything.

Haha, well played! I don't know the full story of why he defected to Russia (just bits of story here and there), but it paid off for him.
BBC streams so good yo, why do I even bother with NBC. How many more years till they no longer cover the Olympics?

fuck sportsmanship, winning is all - right?
if the official deemed it was okay, was okay in my book. sportsmanship comes after the race, during the race, you do what you can to win.
