Yes I am a Knicks fan and I love Lin, I'm just being realistic. He's obv worth his contract but what I said about his assist/TO is a legitimate question.

So what does everyone think of the Blazers this year? Currently 9-2 and on a 7 game winning streak. I'd say they are still a 6-8 spot team with a first round exit. Blazers interior offense/defense is really really bad. I think they rank last in both offensive points in the paint and points in the paint allowed. Either their interior defense will eventually fail them or their shooting will fall back to earth at some point. Still very exciting team to watch though and I'll root for them.

I agree. Their perimeter defense is a bright spot, and the Lillard/Aldridge duo continue to look strong. But yeah, lower playoff seed I think. Other than their win to the Spurs the teams they've beat have ranged from mediocre (Nets) to poor (Kings, Celtics).

the only teams they've played that have winning record is rockets, spurs and sun...beat the spurs and suns which was good but lost to the rockets. the rest have been pretty trash teams.

i'm not sold, i still don't think they can defend. they're going to hit a tough stretch soon. but i agree, i'd give them 6-8 max in the west.

Chris Paul has been shooting horribly these last few games. His 3 ball has also disappeared even when open. Strange.

In other news I wish ESPN put more stuff like this out there. Really like Iggy (like you all didn't know) so glad to see him talk about investing.

Is there anyone here that watches OKC games consistently that can tell me if Kevin Durant is really earning the number of trips to the FT line he is getting? I'm watching his highlights from his game vs the Nuggets tonight and it's just jumpshot after jumpshot after jumpshot, and he still went to the charity stripe 16 times. I see LeBron and Melo banging bodies in the paint day in and day out and they go to the line 7 times a game vs Durant's 12.8, which is more than Dwight Howard. Possible explanations for this is that LeBron and Melo initiate more contact than Durant and refs are less likely to give you foul calls if you're initiating contact, and also LeBron and Melo are just a lot bigger and stronger so refs probably won't give them as many ticky tack fouls because of the perception that they can handle more.

Anyway, Durant is pacing to break the record for free throws made in a season and he is pacing to be the only person besides Wilt Chamberlain to attempt 1,000 FTs in a season.

It's a HUGE point of contention all over the internet. I haven't watched him closely enough since WB got back but the info out there is he's going to go down as the best FT shooter ever if this keeps up. Major opinion going around is this is a lot of FTs even for a guy getting "superstar" calls.

I think it's cause Durant's skinnier with the longer arms, so when he gets banged up or his shot gets altered it's easier to see. Same reason Shaq had to take more punishment down low without getting calls.

Durant is a nightmare to defend due to his physical characteristics but I agree he seems to be getting a ridic amount of calls this year. But I think it symptomatic across the NBA this season--refs seem to be blowing the whistle a lot more.

Or am I wrong? Anyone know what the foul rate per game is this year vs last?
