Today they were a tad unlucky with the Arsenal goal out of nothing, but they couldn't create many chances either. If i am correctly its even worse, if Arsenal beats Marseille Dortmund have to win against napoli (Arsenal out of reach with 6 points and Napoli then is 3 points ahead but they won the direct comparison with 1 game left). It was 100% dortmund, playing amazing but doesnt make their goal and then kinda collapsing after the 0-1. Also this game is a example why Klopp isn´t on the level of Mourinho or Guardiola yet. I just doesn´t see that much (working) ingame adjustments the with Bayern, Real, or Chelsea. I'd love to see Guardiola achieve Klopp's success with a middle-sized club. Ingame adjustments usually come in with players, well Dortmund is very limited in that regard. I would love to see that too. Thats why i am a pretty big fan of Mourinho because winning the CL with a club like Port is something special. Of course it helps to have guys worth 100 Million on the bank, and having players like Lahm, Schweinsteiger or Kross that can play multiple roles in a game or even one set play. But on the other hand you have to question what Dortmund wants to be. If they want to keep their "underdog" attitude it would be ok what happened. It would be even ok to not advance to Ro16 because it is a very strong group. But if they want to be consistent in the Ro8/4 and not being a "one good CL run in" team you have to question why they need the most chance per goal in Europe and why they weren´t able to adjust at all in the last 25 minutes yesterday like you would do it with Bayern, Real or ManU.
Atleast for the next 5 years they want both which might lead to getting neither. When asked about the lack of efficiency in front of the goal Klopp answered "if we don't score with the chances we get, we need to create even more". I'd prefer if we tried to get better chances and stay calmer.
And I will never understand why you put 3+ possible playmakers on the field at the same time. Mkhitaryan, Hofmann, Sahin are amazing but in the last 5 minutes they all tried to get the ball deep and all concept was lost. The only way to adjust our play at the moment might be using Duksch instead of Lewandowski but a) I'm not sure how different they perform and 2) we can't afford taking Lewandowski off. Sure I wanted him to leave and get money but as it stands he's the only one who can somewhat reliably score when pressured hard.

Wow. That's a great goal!
On the Dortmund discussion, according to WhoScored.com, they average the most shots per game (21.5) in Europe's top five leagues.

Give Dortmund a break. They narrowly lost a game against the best-performing EPL team. Under normal circumstances, on an okay day, they should be able to beat Napoli and advance to the next round. And even if they don't, this club has an amazing management, great scouting (Mkhiwho?), a sick good coach and apparantly very good team chemistry. As long as they are able to replace the players that get poached from the other top teams, they will have a great future. I don't think Dortmund has the depth in the squad to consistently finish top 4 in the champion's league just yet, but their best 11 are on par with the likes of Bayern, Barcelona, you name it. If they can advance to the playoffs and maybe go a little bit further, they will be more stable financially and be able to compete with the big clubs on the market. If they don't, this will just take a little longer.

In my opinion Dortmund has a lot of pressure this year
The problem of Dortmund is not money or the management it is that they will have problems holding their talents in the long run. They already lost Götze mostly because Bayern is a bigger name than Dortmund. If Dortmund wants to compete they need to get out of the "inter station" level they are in the moment. They just don´t have the reputation of "i want to play for them because they are..." like Real, Barca, or ManU.
So to get (and keep!) high level players they have to have the argument of a realistic chance of playing in a CL final. Real Madrid will stay Real no matter how bad the season is but Dortmund doesn't have that big of a name to carrie them through bad results on the transfer market.
They have players like Lewandoski (extremly important, already gone next season) Reus, Gündogan, Hummels, Bender with constant rumors. And next year there is the world championship which is the biggest meat inspection of the world with a lot of Dortmund players in the spotlight.

I agree, it's very important that Dortmund make it out of the group stage and beyond this year, it would put down a marker against the bullying of supposedly bigger clubs: "Dortmund is here to stay" and world class talents like Gündogan would think thrice before they leave.

I don´t know it hurts the hype for a game a bit if i have to google 90% of the teams to know where the hell the citys are.
Or is it bad football knowledge not to know "FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk" ?

As much as may not like it, couldn't help but notice the Spanish teams are bossing the all the leagues atm . 6 out 7 teams are in top spot, only Sociedad are in over their head.

english teams are also pretty boss tho, currently 7/7 set for the next round of CL/EL. frankly, this year has been almost surprisingly free of surprises..
