But they still didnt manage to break the curse ![]() I found it very unentertaining tbh. lots of bad play, lots of bad decision also from the ref, maybe i shouldve waited for the free kicks, but I didnt bother. Just my opinion..

Right now i'm at work. You'll see what a great Ref he was during this game..

![]() ![]() Two legged challenge from the side with the ball nowhere near to purposefully injure Sulejmani (went out with a dislocated shoulder), knowing Platini had already taken care of the other two starting wingers for Benfica. How is that not a red card? That's at the 12th minute. Just before half time, Gaitan gets tripped from the back in the box facing only the goalkeeper.. One thing is mild contact in the upper body. Another is contact on the legs from behind, and that very easily makes you trip. How is that not a penalty and a red? What are goal-line refs for? Finally, the penalty on Lima in the second half. Sevilla's player already had a yellow. How is that not a penalty and second yellow? Sorry about these rants. So frustrating.

![]() And there's a handball by carriço in the area that could be a 3rd penalty and a second yellow to carriço. If this isn't enough reasons to say that it was the ref's fault, I don't know what is... With that said, Benfica only have themselves to blame.

Awful penalty kicking is not a reason for the keeper to be 2 meters in front of the line. Pande just to put things in perspective for you, this was more or less on par with the Ovrebo game. But it's not as controversial because it's a fucking Europa League Final and not a Champions League Game. Uefa didn't want Benfica to win this competition. Don't ask me why

Don't ask me why Lol indeed but you take consolation in that this game means nothing? :D Europa League final is not where Benfica should be? You had a shocking Champs League where you finished 3rd to none other than Olympiakos...on goal difference! Also started off your season badly to eventually win the domestic league. After last season you should of changed Jorge, lots of people thought he had lost the plot and rightfully so. He won you the league just about and another failure in the Europa League Final. That isn't where Benfica want to be? Surely Benfica is a top 16 pushing top 8 Champions league every year? I admit winning Europa League might be a consolation but it isn't anything to shout about, its just confirming your "the best of the rest"

Basically I think that Benfica is a team that should be content with winning the league and reaching europa league finals, they're not one of those "should always qualify from CL group stage" teams.

They're not, but they could. Hell, Benfica were close to beating Chelsea some years ago when the blues won the CL, didn't they lose because of a missed penalty or something of the kind? I can't remember right, but I think that was on the quarter-finals.
