What the utter fuck Liverpool. A quality player being treated like that after so many years of great service. Just another reason for me hate Liverpool i guess.
Edit: on the subject of big lower league teams, as much as i hate to admit it, Derby County get pretty massive gates every week, usually 20-25,000
Fuck me seems brain cells are lacking on here too.
So Reina has been talking about Barca pretty much all summer until this point pretty openly, made it clear even in his goodbye letter he was going there if the offer came, Liverpool went and got their replacement while his transfer to Barca fell through as Valdes decided to stay.
So Liverpool are the bad guys for sorting out a guy who is now excess wages because his move he was posturing for all summer has fallen through? Yeah jog on.
Fucking love Pepe, hopefully he gets his Barca move next year, stuck with us while we were shit and still are, has been forced out the door but openly stated his willingness to move if Barca came calling so no complaints on either side can be had really, hope to see him at Anfield again some day.
They're not bad, they are just monumental idiots. Rather than using one of the world's best GKs they are whittling down his contract because they got prissy about the idea of him being open to moving to a clearly superior club and are sending him away. Liverpool could only be worried about 'excess wages' after the amount of cash they have shelled out on mediocre players. If they lose Suarez this season it could be lights out for pool, could be an 8th place or lower.
Excuse me, one of the world's best? He hasn't been that since probably Rafa's last year when the mistakes started coming in. I love him, he is one of my favourite players ever, but he hasn't been close to the best in the league let alone one of the best in the world.
How about this, Pepe said 'Barca come in I'm off', Liverpool 'Right, well we're getting our replacement', Pepe's side fell through, Liverpool got who they wanted so they have no reason to continue to pay Pepe, no other club has two keepers of that stature.
I doubt Liverpool are worried about 'excess wages', but rather just don't want to pay them when they don't have to.
As for the rest, yeah, we'll see
I consider Reina comfortably in the top 3 of the prem. For me it's between De Gea, Cech and Reina. He's one of those keepers who regularly makes saves that would be considered the best of any less brilliant keeper's career. Incredible reflexes, bravery, leaping ability, coordination. Mignolet is good but he is not a good replacement. It's just another example of Liverpool trading down and settling for average players. Their entire squad is like a who's who of players that are good but weren't really wanted by any of the top clubs. Liverpool should have loaned out Mignolet or played him at number 2 as Pandemona said, without a doubt!!!

De Gea Cech Friedel/Lloris Hart (maybe not so much last year haha) Guzan Begovic
Year before people were going on about Krul/Vorm, didn't watch much of them myself so can't say but most seemed to think they were better than Pepe.
Pepe has been no where near top 3 in the league, had some massive errors in recent years, hope he can recapture his form he clearly lost after being away from Rafa and Valero
EDIT: Second half of last season he looked to be getting back but he wants Barca anyway which he is likely to get and deserves so happy with our business, just very sad he is pretty much gone =[

I watched an unhealthy amount of the league last year and no way in hell is Guzan or Begovic even remotely close to Reina imo. Friedel is very very good but Reina has more athleticism. Lloris has so far done nothing that good, he is good at closing down and making rushing out decisions, but he is not a world class shot stopper like De Gea or Reina. Cech is amazing and I consider he and Reina to be very similar. Hart is an x factor - he has bags of talent but also isn't as good as people think. Vorm is definitely better than Guzan. In fact why is Guzan on the list, he is not one of the good ones. Krul is painfully overrated but does have some good shot stopping.
And making a few errors does not make you a bad keeper. Every keeper makes mistakes, the fact is that Reina stops way more legit goalscoring opportunities than almost anyone else. He is incredible.

Don't forget their is only one rival to Petr Cech and that is Reina, those two fought it out for the Golden Gloves in like 5 consecutive seasons. Both averaged crazy goals conceded. Maybe it's just hard to take but i can't see Liverpool without him in goal and some Belgian from Sunderland
Once they get rid of Suarez and Gerrard (wouldn't put it past them), they will officially be 'amateur hour' as far as I am concerned.
I do believe that Rodgers is HORRIFYINGLY overrated. The Swansea squad he rode was created mostly by Martinez iirc. He seems like quite an idiot really.

Yep, Reina after his first year until 2010 was unbelievable, couldn't love the guy anymore, saved us so much when we were fucking shit (still are), but he has definitely dropped off.
EDIT: Oh and in 1v1's Pepe has been fucking seriously bad for a few years, like long range shots etc and reflexes he is top notch, 1v1 he has been garbage for a while when he used to be fantastic. Granted strikers advantage but still many he should've done better on (Ramires goal FA Cup final was bad.)

Martinez built the squad and the philosophy which Brendan then took over. All Brendan did was add a few players most of whom didn't really work and one of whom was spectacular (michu) but I wonder how much that signing had to do with brendan. I support Chelsea btw. Your disrespectful tone is noted and ignored, if you want to increase that post count to much more you'd do wisely to avoid getting personal.

Brendan didn't sign Michu, he signed several other good players and improved well on Martinez and got them fantastically positioned in the premier league, we'll see how Martinez does this year with an Everton side sitting what was it, 6th or 7th?

I do believe that Rodgers is HORRIFYINGLY overrated. The Swansea squad he rode was created mostly by Martinez iirc. He seems like quite an idiot really.
Who do you support as a matter of interest?
Martinez won Swansea the Carling Cup too? He isn't an idiot, you seem like quite an idiot really with some of these posts 'Sell Suarez struggle for top 8' 'Amateur hour' 'HORRIFYINGLY overrated', he isn't even rated that highly, he is well thought of as a decent coach with still a lot to prove and a big project to prove it with.
Sorry, shouldn't have called you an idiot, but yes, in the politest way possible I believe you were talking garbage
Oh yeah of course Laudrup signed Michu and flogged off most of Brendan's purchases haha. But seriously, Liverpool without Suarez and Reina wouldn't surprise me if you were 8th or lower. TBH it wouldn't be amateur hour because you still have one of the best back fours in the league but then again it wouldn't exactly be a powerhouse up front.

They were both amazing managers. In the Championship.

Not quite .
I'll be quite happy with Sturridge/Coutinho/Aspas, not amazing but plenty good if they stay healthy. Our wings are a bit garbage, hopefully Sterling can get over the thigh problem he had and Ibe can push on from pre season but I can't see it.
Not sure I rate our back four based on the back end of last season, looked like someone had stolen Glen Johnson's brain, and Enrique has never had a brain cell in the first place but has the athleticism to make up for it. I think we'll do alright, but could've done with Mkhitaryan or getting someone else in but still got a month left.
New left back, new winger and new striker would be nice to see. Give Joe Allen another year to prove himself as he dropped off considerably after the first two months of being pretty damn good and if Hendo can improve at the same rate no reason he can't be relied upon.
Pretty pleased with our signings from a singing perspective though, hopefully some more noise in the 'non big games' now.
I have seen a lot of Liverpool fans being confident about the new season but I am far from convinced. Btw I really hope Brendan players Assaidi because I rate him way higher than Sterling, who is imo a mini Gervinho. I'm surprised you are so disparaging of your back four, I do not consider them to have dropped below 3rd best defensive force in the league. Good heading ability, good defence of set pieces, excellent attacking support...just let down by their midfield imo.

Johnson, one off my favourite players and who I backed a lot when he got a lot of stick after his injury vs Villa in his first year completely turned to crap from about February onwards, Enrique is brain dead, good defensively due to pace and power but going forward he usually destroys any attacking move rather than add to it, particularly a good counter attack.
Agger and Skrtel were a bit hilarious last year, their win percentage was absolutely shocking if I recall correctly, Carragher did well when he came in but forces us to play a fair bit deeper.
Sterling was good and looked great, until he got his contract/had internal bleeding in his thigh(only recently came out, or certainly I only saw it recently), certainly a lot better than the worlds largest forehead but he has a lot to prove.
Not sure what Liverpool fans have been 'confident' about the new season, confident in what? Top 6? Not seeing many thinking we're going to get top 4 where I frequent.
Maybe not confident but optimistic. I think Liverpool fans in general seem to be more optimistic than most. I remember watching a round table on Liverpool TV last year (it was free to watch) and they all agreed top 4, and one of the guys, with like almost tears in his eyes, said he was certain they would WIN the league. lol

Yeah, you get some mad ones on there, look up the guy who was crying about the boos Owen received returning to Anfield in a manc kit, hardly surprising.
As for the club promoting top 4 being achievable on the official channel, hardly surprising is it? Give off what the fans want to hear, that is the clubs goals, no point being negative about it all.

Guardiola said earlier that Thiago is the only addition to the squad he wants. Plus, I highly doubt Bayern are ready to pay that much for a defender.
Maybe someone in England wants to inflate the price for Luiz, as Barcelona might be genuinely interested in a transfer.
There's no way he'd go to Bayern. They already have Dante, Van Buyten, Boateng, Badstuber, and now Jan Kirchhoff, why would they need another center back? And it's no secret that Bayern have about a million midfielders, so they wouldn't get him to be a DM either.

No, he really did:

It's pretty big time tbh, you're getting some of the finest reasonably priced talents available - Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, Leroy Fer, Gary Hooper. They have some potential, they have quite a few players who are really good and sneak in under the radar like hoolahan and snodgrass. I wouldn't be surprised to see them poach a top 10 finish.
Wow Spurs gona splash 25 million to land Soldado. To be honest, that's a pretty fucking good move as far as I'm concerned.
After few years on the internet, there aren't many things that outrage me, but tackles like this still do. What a fucking moron that Miku guy; if Sleegers had his leg a little higer or on slightly different angle, all ligaments you can imagine would break. Plus it looks like Getafe scumbag was delivering some sort of revenge foul because his leg wasn't nowhere near the ball. Absolutely disgusting, I hope the club will have enough decency to at least land some inside disciplinary actions on that dummy.

Well Feyenoord won't be inviting Getafe over any time soon that's for sure. Sleegers was only just promoted to the first team from the youth squad and that guy nearly broke his leg.
