It depends on the way you rank other sport.. I think that depending on the country there are "main" sports and sports that aren't played at all...
In Portugal the main sports after football are Hoquei em Patins (roller hockey with great tradition in Portugal) and Futsal. We also have really competitive Handball, Basketball and Volleyball teams, but our teams are not at the same level as the best european teams.
With this said i think that greatest sports club in the world is SL Benfica!
After Benfica I would say maybe Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona European Champions: 35
Hockey 19 HandBall 8 Football 4 Backetball 2 Futbol Sala (futsal) 2
Barça Hockey imba xDDDDD

um that hockey part is also not true..

Probably not talking about the same Hockey

Btw, Benfica will play Barcelona in the CL Semi finals next week. Benfica won CL last year.
I guess that this hockey don't have that much sucess outside Portugal, Spain and Italy.

Yes sorry, I forgot to specify that I was talking about Roller Hockey (It is a very popular sport in Catalonia).
|
lol never heard of that =P (looks absolutely ridic tho lol)

It looks like its just ice hockey with no ice. It's odd that regular field hockey isn't more popular. I guess its just not that great as a spectator sport because half the time you have no idea where the ball is. You just have to guess from what the players are doing.
Sunderland Vs Cardiff is going to be tense. Sunderland seem to have a bit of momentum and I bet the place will be packed with the fans finding faith again.

Liverpool - Chelsea starting in an hour and a half. I know Mourinho has said he will be sending a reserve team against pool so that we are better prepared for CL showdown... but I hope our boys can win it.
|
Oh Phil Dowd it didn't look like a penalty to me
|
Huge controversy in Sunderland. Juan Cala sent of for holding back Connor Wickham who was free on goal. I thought it would be free kick outside the area and a yellow card. Referee decided red card and a penalty. The hold back was outside the box so I don't know where the penalty came from. You could definitely argue Connor Wickham had a clear goal scoring opportunity so maybe the red card was justified but there wasn't much contact really.
Anyway end result is Sunderland 2.0 up at half time Cardiff City a man down. Huge for both teams at the bottom. Sunderland have a real chance of getting out of this now. Aston Villa looking more and more in danger.
edit: pundits don't agree with my analysis. If the fouls starts outside the box but continues in its a penalty apparently. Not sure I agree with this. The majority of the incident was outside the box.

so much for fielding a weak team
|
well no cech, terry, cahill, hazard, oscar, eto'o, torres, ramires, luiz and willian even if you count all the injures and dqs this is not the strongest lineup
|
OK, so maybe its not a reserves team but its still weak, I mean Mikel is playing.
Still I believe we can win the title, even with Mikel #believe

I think that lineup is more a testament to how many class players and how few indispensable players they have.

Nice shot by Cole, hope this game lives up to the hype

i got a feeling there'll be a sending off lol

Wickham must be one of the hottest strikers around today. 5 goals in 3 games. Ridiculous.
So Cardiff are dead now, right? Newcastle and Chelsea left to play. Newcastle might roll over, but I doubt they beat Chelsea.
Fulham have Stoke and Crystal Palace, both of whom have nothing to play for. Great chance to stay up.
Not many people mentioning Villa's predicament; They have Hull, Man City and Tottenham left to play and are playing like absolute shit. If they lose to Hull, I reckon they go down.
Sunderland have West Brom and Swansea. Decent games, and they are in really good form.
West Brom have Sunderland and Stoke. Could get sweaty if they lose to in-form Sunderland, but I think they're safe at 36 points.
Bad Luck Norwich have Chelsea and Arsenal left. Can see them beating us (Gunners) if we've secured fourth and stop giving a shit. Dangerously close to falling out as is.
West Ham and Hull are sitting safe at 37 points, I think. Will be incredible if they fall out (not sure if it's even possible with their games left, time to watch Liverpool-Chelsea).
