Complete shitshow by Woodward & Co. From what I understand, even with this waiting til the last minute nonsense, we could have had Herrera also coming in and Coentrao on loan had the front office simply had their paperwork in order. Unbelievable.
Heard rumors that United may be doing a little internal review of wtf, exactly, went wrong. In any case I would expect the team to meet any urgent needs in January (if there are any), and get business done next summer.
Fortunately the most pressing need - a physical, energetic presence in the midfield - has been filled. Fellaini wasn't my first choice but he does have the qualities the midfield has missed the most ever since Fletcher has been ill. Carrick + Fellaini make a good enough holding pair to allow some combination of RVP/Rooney/Nani/Kagawa/Valencia/Chicha to win games.
A better attacking 4 would have at least scored a tying goal at Liverpool. Moyes' team selections so far have been less than ideal.
well in moyes defence kagawa was apparently not fully match fit, which is why we had to resort to a 4-4-2. nani was also not fully match fit either which is why he didnt get 90 mins. just goes to show how much our attack struggles when rooney and kagawa arent available though, we need another player who could make plays. cleverley did a decent job of trying to connect the midfield with the forwards but his passes just sucked. same goes for welbeck and giggs. still dont understand why giggs was put on the right either
Yes finally a stupid reporter reporting some fucking facts! We all knew that, we just had no confirmation of it. Mata played a full season in valencia, then the signed for us in Summer 2011, he played a full season, to then win the champions league in 2012 summer, to then go on to Euro 2012, to then play in Olympics, which meant 0 time off. From the Olympics he rejoined the squad and played the most games ever by a european club (67 i think we finished on) to then go again to the confederations cup in the summer of 2013 which finished july 1st. He has so much game time in 2 years!
Like i think, he will be back regularly playing by mid october, and be helping us achieve the treble before the world cup
Troll ;_: oh good lord. Still Mourinho is on blues news discussing transfers tonight with the Chelsea TV reporter im sure he will clear some stuff up That makes sense though

Wonder if the FFP hammer will come down on Man City (and PSG/Monaco, for that matter). According to transfermarkt, Man City's transfer net spend since 09/10 is £394.5m...incredible.

He took our 2 best players (via substantial tapping up) and sold Özil to our biggest rivals. Forgive me if I don't send Florentino a Christmas card this year. Still, the squad looks decent apart from Danny Rose, and the money not spent on transfers should go toward the new stadium.

quite clearly ed woodward has no idea what he is doing and has no contacts whatsoever with any other clubs or players. the 36 mill for herrera and 40 mill for khedira at the last minute when he dicked around lowballing barcelona for fabregas for 1 whole month. tbh i dont even think khedira and herrera is even worth that much. esp herrera who is extremely unproven still. felliani could have been signed 4 mill cheaper and earlier. it seems that he was the back up since all deals fell through and utd relied on moye's contacts to get him.

I don't know anything about Woodward but judging from the Herrera fallout today, he seems like a total amateur. Attempting a last-minute swoop for a Bilbao player is possibly the dumbest move in the history of transfer windows. A Guardian article suggested that Bilbao would have blocked the bank transfer even if Man Utd tried to pay the buyout fee! That doesn't seem legal but it would have stalled things long enough for the window to end regardless. They are nuts and I have no idea how Bayern managed to get Martinez from them.

i guess having pep helped?
They didn't have Pep back then. Heynckes formerly managed Bilbao though, and he was the one who wanted Martinez for his team.
Bayern had a lot of problems with Bilbao nonetheless, and afaik it took a lot of preparation. They contacted the administration of the Spanish Leagues, hired lawyers etc so that everything went smoothly even without the cooperation of Bilbao. edit: http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/sep/03/ander-herrera-manchester-united
