Best football players may impress me a lot in their own disciple, but on a general scale of impressive jobs: scientists > teachers > medicine doctors >>> artists >>>>>> politics >>>>>>>>> sportsmen. Especially since the professional athletes do a lot to mask the illegal substance abuse, probably including some of the big names we are discussing in this thread.

Yes, he is a playing at top level and he is the topscorer of Real, but he is not a real teamplayer and doesn´t work hard for his team and football as is known is played in teams. So i can´t consider him as the best player in the world. He is also always second behind Messi when the FIFA Ballon d'Or is awarded and i doubt he´ll win this year. Maybe I don´t like CR because of his character, but i really don´t see him as THE footballer per se. Man, struggling to hold in my disdain and rage at your opinion lol. PLease actually watch some RM matches, Ronaldo is not only the most important attacker he is also the driving force behind the whole team. Scores important goals, keeps tempo up, never quits, sets up his team mates A LOT (despite them regularly failing to take advantage of his assists). Having a low defensive work rate is excusable when your offensive workrate is probably one of the highest in professional football. There is no way anyone in the world is more valuable than Ronaldo other than Messi. Not that I don't agree that wages for footballers are a little high in general.

Yeah he shoots like 19k shots just to score 1 and his passes aren't that accurate but he scores over 40 goals for the last 5? seasons. Numbers don't lie, he's a beast.

Can we agree on the fact, that we would need to see him play in his current form in Bundesliga or rather Premier League to justify any real rating? La Liga makes for a lot of goals and I have not been that convinced by his last Champions leagues performances. Same with Messi imo.

I'm talking about the idiots that say that messi(or any other player for that matter) needs to "prove" himself by playing in another league. You have to be a special kind of hater/fanboy to say something like that. I guess Maldini was overrated, he needed to play somewhere else too..

I think there is a potential argument to say, however, that less teams are defence-orientated in La Liga than for example Serie A or the EPL, and therefore there is more of an opportunity to 'pad' stats. When cristiano was there he scored many.

Season 2006/2007 with 31 goals! I want Ronaldo back to ManU he was so excellent at there. I dont want Messi outside of Spain. Both play so boring in Spain. Ronaldo does a much better job with Portugal than Messi with Argentinia. I think Spain is killing top players. Kaka und many others.

Cristiano has 39 goals in 104 apps since 2003. Messi has 35 goals in 82 apps since 2005. No contest. Plus Cristiano managed to lose the Euro cup inside portugal against greece's mighty squad, lmao. Love to see him crying, xD.

Considering what i just read, we´ll never agree upon CR, because you´re a fan of him and I rather dislike him. But you should respect the opinions of others without getting angry about them. I guess, I´ve watched enough games of RM, especially those in CL. (matches in the Primera Divison are rather irrelevant, except those against Barca) Still, I think CR is not the best footballer. In fact, I never called CR bad (like I already mentioned: very good technique and an excellent physical condition), just not as good as others regarding the overall play. Without any doubt he is the star of RM and their best player when it comes to scoring goals, but he is also dependent on his team mates. Due to his rather non-existent defensive work, Real is lacking one player defensively. You additionally said, CR "never quits". When RM is on the brink to losing, it seems to me, his play is half-hearted sometimes. Wages: It´s absolutely ridiculous how much money some players earn. I don´t wanna see these exorbitant contracts in football like in the NBA.
