Example: last year I bid on Kris Humphries for $1. I knew he was worth at least $5 since he was a double double machine that got blocks and barely shot Free Throws in a roto format. He was on a team that would lose a lot of games AND he would get a ton of playing time (Fantasy gold). ESPN had him valued at $1 but he's worth way more hence you bid. Some people will let it slide. Other times they'll overbid which is good as long as they bid more than you think he's worth. Remember the biggest thing about auctions isn't only the players you get but how much you pay and when you pay for them. The absolute WORST thing that can happen in auction is overpaying for marginal players before you lock up your top players. It will hurt dearly when you get outbid by people managing their money wisely.

Everyone sees he's going cheap and ends up price jacking him and the guy that really needs him might end up overpaying. Stuff like this happens all the time with mid tier guys when everyone has taken all the top guys early. You'll also see some people avoid all the top tier guys and snatch up all the mid tier ones but imo in Roto that usually ends up not winning since the top level guys are worth a TON because you don't need many games to get the same stats from 2 or even 3 mid tier players. Durant giving you 30 points on 48%FG with 10 FTA per game at 85% is monstrous because it often takes 2 or even 3 players to approach balance that kind of stat line. You usually want at least one of the top guys no matter what.
