Being in that pot meant that any group they would land in became the group of death. That's no excuse for placing below Ajax this year and they should have placed second in thr group they had in 2011/2012. In 2010/2011 they didn't even get past the 1/8th in the Europa League. It's an abysmal performance over 3 years lol. Edit: abysmal for the resources they got

Barcelona footballer Lionel Messi and his father are being investigated in Spain for allegedly defrauding the state of more than 4m euros (£3.4m). The 25-year-old Argentina forward and his father, Jorge Horacio, are suspected of filing fraudulent tax returns for 2007-09, officials say. On Wednesday, a complaint signed by prosecutor Raquel Amado was filed at the courthouse in Gava - the affluent Barcelona district where Messi lives. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-22877408

I hate when footballers do this though, but im pretty confident in when i say EVERY SINGLE FOOTBALLER does this. Who is on big bucks anyway. Like the 50,000 a week players probably even the ones above 20,000. It just silly, they all get tax dodging and such due to how stupid the business system is.

They can label themselves as a Business/Advertisment description so they only pay certain tax etc. Im pretty sure Messi knew what was happening here, but im also positive he will pay it back I doubt any major player runs around studying the financial gymnastics his accounts are playing. If theres any fault to him its either a) he was stupid and didnt check what was going on, or b) he was told it wasnt a big deal and that everyone does it, because they do.. My major occupation involves sending stuff to alot of countries in the EU. There is a grand total of 0 of them who have billing locations not located in tax havens. And there is nothing legally wrong with it, legally anyway Ofcourse the intracies of his situation are significantly different, but still.
