Seems like Vilanova made clear that his attacking side would be the right one as usual and not switching to the left side with Alba/Iniesta. Not sure if I like that so much, since we have our 2nd striker on the right side and Alves being better defensively than Alba... Anyway seems to work for now!

I kinda thought of it like you do in the start. Then I realised that this plan makes Alba a sleeper hitman(what), like he did twice in this game already, out of nowhere he will do a crazy 70meter run to either receive an assist or himself make one.

Yeah but that's missing on his extraodinary stamina... And since we have Iniesta on this side, it would make the team more balanced. I guess if it's Pedro on the right side it's alright since he often helps defensively... So next week Real Madrid - Barcelona in the Bernabeu. Madrid without Pepe, Casillas (injury), Ramos, Coentrao, Di Maria (suspended), gonna be fun!

![]() Any reason they just let Iniesta run right by them? Is it poor defending or am I just missing something?

It only takes Barça 20mins in beast mode to change the course of a game, and to turn things around. The second goal (Pique's) was just pure class from Iniesta, that pass was just perfect, and Pique's definition wasn't too shabby either. It always amazes me how this team always finds answers with patient, keeping the ball and always trying, never giving up. It's just great to be a follower of this team. All of this is thanks to Pep who showed them that they could play beautiful football and still win games in a sexy fashion .

No, and when you play you will feel this aswell, when that close to the goal a player turns his defender, there is an automatic instinct (and it should be) to try and close him down, at that range if he gets time and space most good players let alone Barca players will finish so the right thing really is to hedge and try to close him down. Its nearly impossible to resist the urge. Very few players will have the vision to pick iniesta like that, theyll see they are in range see red and go for it. And normally that would be a fine decision aswell. But thats what Barca (and to a large extent Arsenal in their haydey) do well they play the higher precentage. There is little you can do to defend that except pick the turn. Once hes got the turn your hoping the A) the shot isnt good enough) b) there is no movement to offer a pass c) there is movement but the player doesnt get picked out. Even then Iniesta's finish wasnt agiven. Sometimes goalkeepers will gamble and not spread themselves so the legs are open when formal training dictates you make yourself big and spread yourself out to narrow the angles. Hell sometimes theyll even show the legs open and gamble the player is going to try and nutmeg the finish and close them pre emptively. Its a glorified guess that ofcourse needs a high level of execution In this case keepers played it by the book because its happened so quickly which makes it so the finish if its going through the legs has to be precise and usually very deliberate.

Its been like that for years now to be honest, even with Andy Carroll it didnt surprise anyone cuz were so used to seeing it.

Transfer News Anderlecht prepared to part with Dieumerci Mbokani and Lucas Biglia in the summer Anderlecht have revealed that Dieumerci Mbokani and Lucas Biglia will be allowed to move on in the summer. Both men have been heavily linked with moves to the Premier League during the winter transfer window. Source So anyone want to take a stab in the dark at why Anderlecht produce so many great players? Chelsea have raided Anderlecht many a time, and i know other clubs have too. Their scouting policy must be awesome.
