Maybe the US will surprise us like the Olympics and win?!

hopefully WCG doesn't completely fail this time.

why is your first qualifier scheduled to take place during MLG, when every single notable American will be unable to play? please change that date
|
will we have to pay our way to the grand finals if we make it again? lol

Yeah AND it conflicts with a NASL qualifier!
Why do people schedule like that?

Passive aggressiveness complaining all over TL gets obnoxious to read.

Difference being... WCG USA is literally a tournament only for US citizens, so directly conflicting with a tournament in which every single good American player goes to sounds like a bad idea, especially when they can just put both qualifiers in September.
NASL on the other hand, is starting in September, which means we have a very limited amount of time to run qualifiers, so unfortunately can't really change the schedule around. Plus, we are having four different qualifiers, so people who miss out on MLG still have 3 other chances. Furthermore, NASL is a world-wide tournament, so conflicting with a USA-LAN isn't as big of a deal, because there is still a wide variety of world class players that can sign up and compete in the NASL qualifier that are not attending MLG. Obviously, a WCG USA qualifier doesn't have that luxury because the entire player-base that would have a good shot at qualifying, if they played, will be attending MLG.
Thank you for the comparison though, Geoff.

eh? MLG is a mostly international tourney where a lot of NA players but also Korean/EU players attend. NASL is an international tourney where the same is true.. both cancelled out.
Americans missing out in playing 1 of 2 qualifiers for a league they have to pay to attend is bad.. but so is NASL going up against a very announced MLG with an online qualifier.

Again difference is...
NASL Season 3 finals: July 14-15 ... we took 1 week of vacation off after the finals, our gear didn't arrive until the next week, which brings us essentially to August. We have 4 qualifiers, and Season 4 starts early September. Not sure when else we're supposed to fit the qualifier in, unfortunately.
Again there's a very big difference here that I'm not sure you're seeing. Unless WCG USA Finals are in September, there should be no reason why they can't move their qualifier to another date - especially because WCG isn't paying for the players travel outside of 1st place.
For any player that joins NASL, we need them to sign contracts, get in HQ photos, get their security deposits, etc... so again we need some time. No real way around avoiding MLG, unfortunately.
You're also ignoring the fact that only 1 of our 4 qualifiers conflicts, whereas 1 of their 2 is. This is made even steeper by the fact that WCG USA is only for American citizens (almost ALL of which attend MLG). You can't argue that almost ALL top players in the world attend MLG. For example: half the Slayers team signed up for the first qualifier, and I can guarantee you that none of them will attend MLG. Sleep won't attend MLG, ToD won't attend MLG, Golden won't attend MLG, Inca won't attend MLG, neither will Daisy or Bischu. In fact most of the top 16 in this qualifier aren't attending MLG.

ok!
Time constraints make it ok.. my point is scheduling on top of other events is bad in general. Maybe you do a qualifier on m-w of a week? Maybe you cram it into 1 day?
I get your reasons but in general scheduling on another event for an online qualifier is really bad. It hurts you and it hurts the scene overall.

Uh oh. Conflicting schedules. Looking forward to watching it all!
