Today, the CSL comes to the community asking for support. We lost a large chunk of funding for our Grand Finals event and now need help in order to send the top schools to the Grand Finals. We are just as excited as you all about the event and have been working tirelessly to get it off the ground, but now we need help.
Help support the CSL in hosting our Grand Finals event... we are looking to raise money in order to fly out the top 4 teams to our event and every dollar donated will help CSL players compete for the grand prize.
Donate and Win!!!
We are extremely humbled by the support of this community. Reaching our goal was an insane accomplishment and relief. People are still free to donate post finals if they wish to be entered in the raffle and to support the CSL and get a free Day[9].tv premium pass! Any extra funds we make will be put into our events in the future such as our live Canadian Regional LAN! Thank you everyone!
We are organizing a raffle and will be able to give away some amazing prizes to people who donate to help support our cause! All donations can be sent through our ChipIn Page (NOTE: All contributions sent directly to PayPal will be sent to ChipIn) There will be three tiers of items: -donations of at least $10 will enter you into the Bronze raffle -donations of at least $25 will enter you into the Gold raffle -donations of $50 or more will enter you into the Platinum raffle - donations of $100 or more will enter you into the Diamond raffle

We appreciate everyone’s support! We are hoping to raise $5,000 to help fly out players from the four teams. Thank you all and we hope you all enjoy what we do over at the CSL – this is a project started by college students, for everyone we hope that everyone can find friendship and build strong relationships through the CSL and Starcraft just like all of us at the CSL have done.
We guarantee that 100% of the donations will go towards funding the CSL Grand Final event and if there is any excess funding after the event it will go towards community driven events during the summer.
We will make sure the Grand Finals is an amazing event that delivers fun, exciting games to everyone. So once again, thank you all and we hope you’ll be tuning in on June 2-3 to cheer for your favorite team and player, and help support a small but great part of the community!
Oh man, this looks really cool! I'm a little confused, though. In the OP it mentioned "Gold, Plat, and Grand Master" Donators but the three tiers are Bronze, Gold, and Plat.

Grand Master Donators are chosen from the top 200 donors on the server. They are done so seemingly randomly, and cannot be replaced.
On a serious note, I will try to get some in! Is there a deadline for consideration to the raffles?
Hey all! We have great news, some new updates !! <3 Alienware, Day9, TwitchTV

You don't need a Paypal account to donate. Credit/debit card and guest account works. You could also contact CollegiateStarleague to check for other options...
I don't understand why the donations are open until after the finals are over though. Is somebody else covering the costs in the mean time and will get paid back from the donations or something?

I'm personally going to cover stuff we can't make, we just set that date to see if we can raise some more money at the event itself.
Quick question. Say I donate $150 or $200 how many times or how much of a better chance do I have at winning a prize compared to someone who donated $50?

You'll basically have 3-4 chances to win... you'll enter the highest level ($100+) and also be eligible for all the lower levels too. You can win at each level, so potentially 3 prizes.
If I could top that meter myself, I would. But since I can't (not and still pay the rent, car insurance, etc), I'll givegave as much as I cancould. Because more StarCraft in Florida? Hellsyeah.

I feel the same way, I wish this had more publicity!

I just donated 105$, but I'm wondering, do you ship the prizes to Europe ? Even if you don't it should be fine but I was wondering Can't go to the event for several reasons (finals and other shit e.g. I don't have enough money to travel there), but how can I not give money for something supported by Day[9] ?
Still hope I get cool stuff :D
BTW, can someone get more than 1 prize ? Like one from platinum and one from bronze raffles

Yes you can :D And I THINK we can ship to Europe, not 100% sure, but it should be okay. We'll handle that if/when it happens

Sweet, because everything you are giving away looks fantastic :D haven't had any luck crafting stuff in Diablo 3 (lost like 4M gold), I hope it'll go better this time :D I really wish I lived in the USA, there are so many awesome tournaments taking place there, such as this one or the upcoming MLG,
Wow, 3.6k / 5k. Didn't think it would go that high after the slow down after the start. Might not need to finance any of that yourself as things are going.

updates soon, sorting through the winners is taking a bit of time!
the week after grand finals was extremely hectic for our volunteers which caused unexpected delays, but progress has/will be made with winners announced this week
On June 19 2012 23:48 BXiT wrote: What do you "sort" about the winners ? They win or they do not win... Are you sorting by friends or ... ?
If you go back to the OP, you'll see that there are actually quite a few different "tiers" to the raffle, depending on how much people donated. And there are multiple prizes in each tier. Depending on how the draw works, they may be validating. Or sorting the various names into the right hats. Or something. I dunno.
Why you gotta be all conspiracy up in this joint? Xeris wouldn't let them pull something fishy. And even if he didn't, I'm sure Hazelynut would beat them upside the head with a clue stick.
(TL;dr - They're working their stuff. These guys are legit. Don't be paranoid.)

Also, they have to figure out how to get the free Day[9] subscription to everyone, as I'm sure they want to communicate about prizes all at once. In addition, they have to figure out shipping etc. before they announce winners as people would complain even more if they won, and it took a while for their prize to arrive.
On June 20 2012 06:11 gamingaddictmike wrote: I am still confused though are the winners announced in a new thread? By email?
Normal for a competition is not to announce winners until the winner has gotten back to them. If you do you risk people trying to appear as the winner and perhaps getting the prize.
All contributors and winners have been e-mailed. If a winner does not claim their prize in a weeks time, we will re-raffle the prize to someone who did not win anything.
Thanks for your patience, we will sum everything up soon in our year in review article! Stay tuned.

Thanks for all the work doing the raffles, hope it was at least a little fun for you as well.
