Hello Liquid Netizens!
You probably haven't heard of AceLessons yet, but perhaps you have heard of certain teams such as ALL4ONE Gaming and Check Six Gaming, both of which have coaches at our website!
Who are we? We are Sam Wang, Tim Meissner, and Zhe Zhang (EtherealDeath), a triplet of Starcraft nerds who not only love playing the game but also have a passion for entrepreneurship in the field of E-SPORTS.
What is AceLessons? AceLessons is a new website dedicated to providing free instructional content in the form of VODs and high level streams, while simultaneously providing paid content in the form of personal coaching with a wide range of high level coaches.
Our aim is to provide quality coaching at an affordable rate in a timely fashion. Students can expect contact with their coaches within 48 hours of purchase. Many of our Grandmaster league coaches are at a base hourly rate of $20/hour. There is also a wide variety of coaches in the range of $10/hour to $20/hour.
Coach time can be purchased in two ways - you can either buy a certain number of hours at a fixed rate, or you can purchase one of a set of packages which guarantee a larger block of hours at a reduced hourly rate.
Purchase xSixShadow at $20.00 per hour or...
Purchase 2 hours at $17.50 per hour
We have a customer guide which you can view below. + Show Spoiler + We also give back to the community through sponsorships of tournaments such as the z33k dailies last week (such as this one).

xSixShadow + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/DM0lh.png) My name is Erik “xSixShadow” Kim. I was previously in Team Revoki, currently in Team Check Six. I have been with Blizzard game since 1996 SC1, WC3, then to SC2. I started SC2 from Open Beta in Korea. I have experienced GSL Open Season 2 Qualifiers losing in the prelim finals. I am currently an enrolled student in Indiana University, but full time during the summer, preparing for big tournaments, such as MLGs. I play protoss in the very high competetive level defeating many foreign pros (foreign for me). However, I am still capable of coaching zerg and terran in masters or lower level, and Protoss definately in GM level. My previous students loved my teaching style of analyzing the students’ plays and giving pointers to improve critically on overall skills. I am very aware of situational and elemental aspects of SC2 especially protoss. VTPokebunny + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/Hr3qL.jpg) Heyo, what’s up! I am Nick “VT|Pokebunny” Taber, a professional Terran player for VT Gaming. I am a top 50 Grandmaster level player, and have earned more than $1000 from tournament and showmatch play. I consider myself a good coach for those Terrans who wish to learn an all-purpose aggressive style for all matchups based on harass and timing attacks, with solid transitions into later game. I can teach a wide variety of students at any level, and help you with a multitude of things, including but not limited to build orders, game plans, scouting reactions, micro tips, and much more. I answer any questions students might have during the lesson and am willing to provide replays or answer questions out of lesson time. I do expect my students to make an effort to improve out of lesson time, as I feel that it is a waste for both parties if you are not dedicated to improving your game to the highest level. I will not teach you shortcuts to get to diamond league, I will teach you solid methods that will work at any level if you learn it properly. I understand that many students may have limitations, whether they be in-game lack of skill or outside commitments, but it is my goal to work through those to make you the best you can be. My lesson format varies on the level and needs of the student – feel free to contact me with specific questions regarding yourself. All lesson times must be scheduled or at least discussed in advance – I won’t do spur of the moment lessons. Hopefully my lessons are of interest to you – good luck in your gaming endeavors! Hey Zerker :B Glad to see things are working out for you!
|
Awesome to see this release! Big fan of shadow! Best of luck coaches!

While i would heartily recommend new players taking lessons from both x6Shadow and Zerker, I feel it is necessary to warn Terran players seeking coaching about Pride. Rather than slander a player explicitly I'll merely link to a thread of his that i feel sums him up pretty well.

Cool site, I was contacted earlier and should soon be listed on the site.
If you're not happy with pride as a terran coach, I will be an option soon :>
|
lol pride made 3-4 new accounts on tl.net just to praise/bump his awesome 2-rax allin guide. Hope he isn't charging too much

The battlenet gods have spoken and I'm grateful to rank up to masters right before the release of AceLessons =]

For a second, I thought you were guaranteeing coaching people into leagues Good luck with the coaching!

Well at least he can show you how to get to GM with poor mechanics/minimal game knowledge, and never having to build a command center right? Seriously, anyone considering terran coaching, do yourself a favor and go with pokebunny or another terran listed on the site if you want to know how to play past the 15 minute mark.

To be fair, Pride did do a perfectly macro build when I played against him (PvT).
|
Best of luck to you all in your business venture.

lol op edited and removed pride as the terran coach.

Don't like/dislike Pride or Pokebunny but I would definitely pick a 22 year old "random" korean to review and be coached than a 15 year old suburban youngster. Also with all of Pride's cheeses he probably knows a good deal about the first 15 minutes. ;p.

Who's the 22 year old random korean?
|
I checked out the free VODs on their site. The build orders shown are poorly executed, 40-44 supply at 7 minutes with floating minerals from the beginning are pretty bad, forcefields were placed at a speed of like 1 FF per 2 seconds (pvz 3 gate expand VOD). Don't get me wrong, this might help silver players and since it is free, there is nothing wrong about it, but i do not see how this can help someone in higher leagues at all.
The coaching lessons shown in the VODs looked like that: The coach and the student are watching replays. The coach tells the student some random stuff, that sometimes does not even make sense. It seems as there is no plan behind this. But well, it is only one of their coaches, so this might not mean anything.
At this point i want to mention that a gamer who likes to play cheesy is not a bad coach by default. I think it is not fair to bash Pride (or any other coach) before you saw one of his lessons.

much better value than other sites I suppose, gl with this

You are stupid. But I'll correct the thing that's factually incorrect HE LIVES IN MANHATTAN!
On topic, I encourage more players to become coaches on their website, it is very well done. Thanks to Edward for bringing AceLessons to my attention and thanks to Ace for their site!

Only one coach on that entire website has a 7.5 or higher rating. That player is ONEWannaBeCool so yeah your selection of coaches is not exactly what I call excellent.

Tell the site owners to fix it then by allowing only people who have bought a lesson to give a rating after the lesson is over.

We plan on making those changes. Thank you for the suggestions!

I thought Acelessons would somehow be affiliated with Ace but I guess not

Best of luck in this - I hope you guys are able to teach many aspiring players how to play!

Why is the GM Package of xSixShadow 510 dollars? 2*MaSter will be 470 dollars and if you add 1 Silver it will be 505 dollars. Also the GM package should give a bigger discount. Now its more expensive than the lesser packages!

Love the site and been looking for coaching. I plan to hit up one your Terran coaches but still haven't got a response from the two I contacted over a month ago. Would of been nice to hear something back from coaches you now represent your site. Hey could of just been overlooked but looks bad when people don't even check the site they represent email address. So while it might be a VTgaming email issue.
Lastly you might want to ensure people who offer lessons via their team websites don't offer cheaper rates. What is stopping me from paying his rate at VTgaming website:
Name: Nick Taber
ID: VTPokebunny.787
Main Race: Terran
Rate: $20/hr | $35/2hrs Over going to your site and paying $30.00 per hour? Obviously just a few small things you overlooked into getting the website running. Hopefully you have better follow up contact that I have got from people who are "coaches" on your roster from other coaching sites they represented in the past.
So yeah wish you best of luck but since Wednesday, April 27, 2011 7:57 PM I have still been waiting for a professional response from a coach who from his rates is a high tier coach on your site. Might want to make sure they do a better job and keeping business coming in because they lost money from me already in not even replying to emails.

Our site was not online a month ago, so I can't really speak for the private transactions of coaches before they joined AceLessons. Coaches will however be held accountable for their actions with us, so if a coach is chronically absent (thus triggering repeated refunds), they will be removed. We will make sure that coaches fulfill their obligations and that the customer will be refunded if said obligations are broken.
Regarding the differing prices for Pokebunny, there may be differing prices on varying sites. We offer the price which was agreed to by both parties and we guarantee that you will get into contact with your coach within 48 hours and receive coaching in a timely manner or get your money back, so you won't have to worry about the horror stories which you seem to have experienced in the past.
We do hope that you'll give coaching a try with us, and we'll make sure you are 100% satisfied with your experience!

We've switched to a moderated review system as a result, which you can see at the bottom of coach's pages. This is so we can preserve the lack of overhead - you can browse and buy at your leisure without bothering with logins (which you probably have too many of already!). All you have to do is log into Paypal at the end. At the same time, it prevents trolling from ruining a coach's page.
So, regardless of where the bad rating spam came from (and IP logs show that it really was trolling and not any legitimate voting, as there were huge chunks of 1 star ratings with nothing else from many IPs), it's been resolved.

Pride is actually a great coach believe or not. He has quite a horrible reputation for his all/cheeses ins but his macro and decision making can greatly help improving players. He's a terrific coach and I would strongly recommend him to anyone.
|
I got coaching lessons from Pride and He was really helpful.. Sure hes not known as many other players but hes very solid. During the session we would go over building orders and simply mind set ideas. I myself think hes a great terrran player and charges fairly.
PS: Take the advantage of his prices now before he gets known and Gosu and it goes up lol xp
Soldfierce!!
|
Just finished a coaching sesh with Pride. Was great, he's a funny guy and it was fun overall, taught me a lot of little tricks like how to get more minerals early game, building placement and overall reaction/game sense. Was fun, +1 for Pride. He's GM for a reason.

so are all these people raving about pride actually people or more of pride's alt accounts?

Sick burn stokes.
Though I think most did get banned already so you could check.
I was wondering if anyone could explain the difference between asking one of the many generous master level players for a free lesson compared to paying a grandmaster to advise and teach you on a diamond and below level.
I'm no troll, just genuinely curious and interested in improving quicker.
|
Should be like getting some maths lessons from a friend of yours and paying someone who actually got a degree that " certifies " his skills.
Both are good stuff, but depends on you ( level, expectations and stuff... )
|

so much hate for pride =0, almost as much as combatex except combatex is bm, pride isn't =o.

When you say Acelessons I think of ST_Ace as a coach!
Perhaps teaching how to do a ceremony :D
|
I'm guessing you guys are getting flooded with coaches? Haven't heard anything back after my application.
|
dope dop, what a good deal what a good deal i love it
|
I'm a high masters (under 200 in region) and I'm going to get a coach to refine my tvp mech and possibly race switch; I just haven't decided what gm is right for me. But this is the first post that has A LOT of coaches to choose from. It is very nice to see something this professional. I also like the 48hr money back committment - makes me feel more secure in my purchase.
It's hard to do a race switch without killing your ladder ranking. This is a good chance.

Is there a way I can contact xsixkool? I purchased a few hours and haven't heard anything in a few days.
