I don't remember where Annette went. I'll listen to the new album later - Imaginaerum is really an amazing album.
I know tons of people were super pissed/sad when Tarja left, but I think I liked Annette's popmetal style better. Not to say I disliked Tarja; the operametal was just not my highest preference. Although her Over the Hills and Far Away cover is fucking amazing. I'd love to see her and Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica) duet that shit.

Ah I loved both Dark Passion Play and Century Child, not sure who I prefered lol. Didn't realize they lost another vocalist though. Need to listen to Imaginaerum, kind of stopped listening to the band in general.

Annette got fired and slammed Nightwish a few months later. Stuff about how her wishes weren't respected and money not being split evenly, etc. Nightwish responded and basically said she was lying and that she was fired for poor work ethic and not meshing with the band or something. Meh.
New album is ok nothing special. Dark Passion Play still the best so shame Annette didn't get to do another one.

I haven't listened to Century Child. Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum were both Annette (these two are my favorites). Before that was Tarja, and now this new one (Endless Forms Most Beautiful) is some chick named Floor. Fortunately, the rest of the band has stayed whole throughout it - Marco (bassist/backup vocals) is fucking amazing.
If you're interested, Marco and Tony Kakko, as well as a couple other Finnish metal icons, have a band called Northern Kings - they cover rock songs with different members doing the vocals. Haven't listened to their album in a while, but I remember it being quite good.

Well that's a shame. You should give Century Child a listen although it's more opera'y so maybe you won't like it. Dark Passion Play is just so dam good lol. Pity when people's personalities get in the way of creating good shit ;(

My metal awareness diminished greatly after high school. Sonata Arctica and Nightwish were really all that I was exposed to.
