Anette got sick during the US 2012 tour and had to drop out and got replaced during the tour. new albums okay. personally I think the vocals don't fit the sound too much and the choruses are underwhelming so for me its a bit of a disappointment. as for whats metal the genre's expanded so much that its really hard to say what classifies. I listen to some "metal" bands that don't fit the traditional idea. .
also I really need to get Katatonia's double live acoustic album, now thats a great recent release
hope yo don't mind me dropping in.
also a lot of the 70s stuff might not seem like metal today but it was classified as that back in the 70s and its so important in the history of metal that we usually call it metal and lump it in with those bands (blue oyster cult, alice cooper, UFO, etc)

Someone summed it up to me as "They called metal what was harder than rock at the time, so when rock definition changed metal become rock and some new stuff appeared and started getting called metal" or something along those lines. Not sure how legit it is.

sounds like a pretty good summary of it. Somewhere I have a book written by the head of the UCLA music department on metal where he talks about how to define what's metal I'll see if I can find it (although it was written in 1993 so its not super up to date.)

Why would someone still have a Bulbasaur and not evolve it when they clearly have the ability to level Pokemon well past its initial evolution threshold that just makes no sense. If they're training a new Pokemon then just abuse exp grinds sheesh.
Also uh it was fairly witty.

haven't started yet. Been really busy with school and the like.
also I'm disappointed that the pokemon comic didn't bring up godel's incompleteness theorem.

I guess its something about trying to find the meaning of life instead of creating meaning for yourself (the creature with light has created meaning for itself by trying to find meaning the other thing finds nothign)? or something like that maybe.
could also be something about the search for ultimate truth or not being willing to learn from those who are enlightened/more knowledgeable or something.

I wasn't trying to imply that she didn't get fired (although I assumed she got sick and they used it as an excuse to fire her.) maybe I should have worded it clearer, but yeah she definitely got fired. but yeah I figured it was something complicated like that. dark passion play was good I just hated that the production style. made in hong kong sounded much better in my opinion.
now if they lied about her being sick to cover up internal issues that would be news to me (and an indication that they needed to fire their pr department.)
if anyones wondering wha Anette's up to now she had a solo album called either shin or shine a year or two ago that I unfortunately have not had a chance to listen too.

From my understanding a Master's Program is for those who really want to pursue academia. While I like school, I'll have been in school for 18 years straight by the time I get my degree. So I might eventually go for a Masters, I can say with certainty that I'll be taking a bit of a break once I finish my undergraduate.
I have to say, you guys have given me a lot of great advice over the years. I remember asking about the benefits of a Master's Degree on this forum some time ago and everyone had some very insightful information. You guys are awesome. Stay classy all of you.
