Eva Eva Eva Eva Eva Also it's not a shounen but everyone here needs to watch SPACE DANDY HES A DANDY GUY IN SPACE And then read Holyland. Some guy in this thread a year or two ago recommended to me, it's been one of my fav manga for awhile now. And then finally shoutout to YuYu Hakusho, Naruto, Shaman King, One Piece, Bleach, Yu-Gi-Oh, and DBZ for being the only manga I read for multiple years. Of those only One Piece, YuYu Hakusho, DBZ, and Shaman King are any real good, the rest are just inconsistent. No, but seriously, Eva. AND SPACE DANDY | ||

Like, here's a good example from Naruto:+ Show Spoiler + The big chase after Sasuke when he's put in that barrel by Orochimaru's minions is way, way, way clunkier in the anime. Constantly having to switch between the fiveish simultaneous fights probably doubled or tripled the number of episodes that part of the story took to resolve, simply through sheer force of having to reestablish wtf was going on. It flowed lot better and faster in the manga. Partly this is because the manga can largely assume you can pause and think, and/or flip back a few pages, and/or pull out the last chapter if something confuses you. The anime has to play to the lowest common denominator and thus often goes to dumb lengths to make sure everything is crystal clear before continuing. Go rewatch DBZ sometime and you'll see this all the damn time even when there aren't 20 things going on at once. | ||

The first parts are kitsch, the design gets more and more ove-the-top (read: faublous), and it's over 100 volumes long at this point, but the 8 parts can be read independantly (the majority are tied but nothing that makes them unreadable) with ~20 volumes worth for each (a lot less for the first 2). Also there's a recent anime for it if you don't like reading. If Teut likes Naruto's first fights he should try that since from part 3 onward Jojo's mostly about ambushes with Stand Users actually concealing the nature of their power, and information is a huge edge (although there are some cases of "you're pinned down, because here's what my power does" in the latter parts). Wasn't there a similar clause in HxH with Hunters trying not to stand out too much because their licenses are sought-out prizes? Kaiji is really good is you don't mind the art (it's part of the charm and emphasies all the over-the-top shit going on), and even better if you treat the first season as a stand-alone, storytelling-wise. I didn't like the 2nd one that much past the first arc anyway. The OST for season 1 is also pretty great (though nearly half is comprised of the zawa-zawa tracks). You'd better finish Monster, that thing's amazing, and it's one example of an anime adaptation done right in terms of pacing (contrary to what Seuss said of shonens for example). I should go back to the manga store, they told me they'd get Pluto's first tomes that were sold out, and it's shorter than 20th century boys. | ||

The power of a Stand lowers the further it is from the user, and most of them can't "physically" get further away from him than 4-5m, remote Stands are weaker but unattached to the user and have much longer effective range. So Narancia is in a crowded area and has to identify and isolate the enemy Stand users, without knowing anything about them, while they already know his face and are attacking him. He can't attack indiscriminately and harm passers-by since it'd draw attention to him or get him arrested. | ||
