I bought my mom an Xperia Z3 Compact for Christmas and she loves it, and I'm honestly a little jelly that her phone has more bells and whistles than mine.
Really depends on how big her hands are.

I bought mine at Rogers (the people I have my phoneplan with) The s5 has a bit of a better processor and a way better camera but its a bit more expensive. Could probably get a really good deal on an s4 now. one selling feature for me on the nexus 5 tho was the lack of bloat ware it comes with compared to the galaxy.

I could swear I saw that post as Monte's the first time I loaded the page. Am I... am I that tired? Oo Well, Slardar starts with an S I guess? WoD update: Operation "All the Garrisons" is proceeding more slowly than I'd anticipated. There are three factors involved: - Despite not having a single alt at 100 yet (wherein profits from garrisons essentially triple) I'm already raking in thousands of gold a day. Already having more gold than I know what to do with limits my motivation to go from rich to filthy stinking rich.
- The overhead of missions/mining/herbing increases with each alt that I get to 92+, which reduces the amount of time I have to actually progress the plan.
- Jungle Nidalee has been distracting me.
Still, despite my slow progress I've got 6 alts at various stages of garrisoning with #7 on the way. #8 and #9 still need to be leveled through Cataclysm and MoP, and #10 is still in the Hinterlands so that'll be a while. The ultimate goal of making stupidly insane amounts of gold will have more point if Blizzard's flirting with the idea of a PLEX like system becomes reality. Wait, are you serious? Blizz is going to actively connect in game currency with RL?

Oneplus One if you can somehow get your hands on one. If not, HTC One M8, Sony Xperia Z3, or Motorola Moto X, or LG G3 are all good devices.
(I left out the Galaxy S5 because in terms of price/functionality it's incredibly similar to the M8--but the M8 is better in areas that actually matter to me while the stuff the S5 does better I don't care about. It may be better for someone else, though.)

Oneplus One is legit, an ex co-worker ended up getting it, took a few weeks to fly in from China then he had to cross over to the US to pick it up. Highly recommend it.

Monte, you have way, way too much time on your hands to get 10 accounts to 100 in WoW. WTF...
11 characters including my main. Remember how I used to play LoL 6-7 hours a day, more on weekends? What do you think I did before that?
I literally had one of every class, excluding Hunter, at the level cap during WotLK. When ICC came out I did the daily heroic dungeon on every single one (in addition to raiding) in order to get the Emblems of Frost needed to buy the Primordial Saronite for the Shadowmourne quest. I ran the Warrior FAQ on the EJ forums and got an ugly-as-hell shield named after my main for my efforts.
I took things a lot more casually in Cataclysm because by then I was absorbed in LoL. Still, that left me with a range of characters between level 80 and 85, and with rest experience and curve changes it doesn't take long to get to WoD content.
If I was playing 6-7 hours of WoW now I'd probably be done with my plan already, but wife + commitments + split attention = maybe a third of the way done.

They're thinking about allowing players to buy game time tokens for money and then sell them in-game for gold (ala EVE) as another tool to combat gold sellers. They haven't committed to it yet.

I mean, I'm sure she'd be perfectly happy if I didn't do anything big and we just spent the day together, but I like doing special things for her. I'm not particularly skilled or interesting or anything like that, so if I can make a big gesture every now and then to let her know how much she means to me, it's important that I jump on it.

But you know, $300 is a bit steep for my blood. I like to just upgrade when my contract let's me do it for free/cheap.

$300 is actually WAY cheaper than pretty much any other top-end smartphone if it's not on contract (and providers are increasingly trying to move people over to bring-your-own-device plans rather than providing contract phones).

I don't think I was around at that time, and I don't think I've spent that much time on a game since I was in a team for BF3/CoD before I got my PC and switched to MOBAs....

I've never heard of a OnePlus One, but damn, that's a nice looking phone. I'm getting to the point where my iPhone 4s is really just becoming a piece of shit. Anyone have a OnePlus One invite? lol

Are any of those durable like the S5 is supposed to be? (my biggest criteria, thinking of moving from dumb to smartphone...)

Main thing I like about my S4 is you can just expand the storage with an SD card and I could even change the battery if it gets real bad.

The HTC One has external SD card support as well, not sure why you thought otherwise.
Battery swapping is more of an issue, and if I was on a bring-your-own-device plan, I may have decided against the One, but I figured that on a contract plan, my contract will run out before the battery gets really bad.

Pros/Cons of the S5 vs the M8: - M8 has somewhat higher build quality (metal finish rather than faux leather/plastic) - M8 has better speaker quality - HTC Sense is a way better UI than Samsung TouchWiz - You can replace the S5 battery, while the M8 is built for the battery to not be replaceable - S5 is waterproof, M8 isn't - S5 has a significantly better camera - S5 has biometric sensors (fingerprint scanner/heart rate monitor)
In terms of other internal benchmarks (hardware, display, battery life, etc.) the two phones are virtually identical, as well as having more or less the same price tag attached.

I just think it's hilarious that Scip has probably the second best team in my fantasy league, but is also 0-2 right now.

I think you guys are arguing smartphones and forgetting that this is for wei's mom.
There's some important factors to consider when it's for a mom. How tech savvy is she? How big of a screen does she want?
Like, when I bought a phone for my mom, my mom is 4 foot 11 and weighs 90 pounds. Half the phones you're talking about she'd have to hold with two hands to use.
We need some more info about Wei's mom before we can helprar.
