Most of it we just discussed ethics (I wonder if he too thinks that ethics is the only interesting part of philosophy left). Still have half a year of high school left Since you sound so enthusiastic, I'll list what the graduation exams will consist of: writing an essay on a random topic in class talking about one of the 20 books I read for 15 minutes some grammar exams, nothing too treacherous normal math exam (no fear here) randomly pick one out of 25 questions about physics (example: light as a wave) and talk about it for 15 minutes randomly pick one out of 25 various topics and talk about it for 15 minutes I can afford to have only 1 grade lower than an A in any of the subjects (czech, english, math, physics) of the final exam to even have a shot at attending a good foreign university (I think I should be able to get those grades with some effort), alternatively I'm guaranteed to get to Charles' University's faculty of maths and physics. It's still going to hurt, I'll have to endure a lot of sleepless nights still, but I believe that once I get to uni my life will get even more wonderful. That sounds like a cool exam structure actually. I did the International Baccalaureate Diploma in High School if anyone else knows/did that? I enjoyed it. University is awesome Scip. You will enjoy it. It is very VERY easy to fuck up though with all the freedom and distractions, but you got a good head on your shoulders so I ain't worried. What foreign Universities are you looking into? What do you think you will study? I already have to keep track of my own things (I don't visit high school daily, only once a week when we mostly do some exams) so I'm hoping I'll be fine with that. Well, the one thing I'm afraid I might have trouble handling is going to uni daily, but meh.. hopefully I'll adapt Maxtor has persuaded me to try to apply to the top UK universities, honestly I don't really think I have much of a chance of attending, but it would be rather adventurous to do so. I'll study either maths or physics, if I go for physics I'd like to eventually work in research, if I go maths idk wtf I'd do but I love maths. Actually looking at it it's probably too late to apply to foreign universities LOL. Laziness ftw.
Of course you should try. There isn't anything to lose by applying (unlike in the US were you have to pay when you apply). Unfortunately for some UK universities the application deadlines are over right now (I think here the undergraduate deadline for EU was the 15th). There are exceptions in some cases though. Most funding deadlines are also already over. This may be related to the free bachelor programs here in Scotland though, maybe English unis have other deadlines.
If you want to know anything about the University of Edinburgh/The city of Edinburgh feel free to ask me. I don't know too much about the undergrad programs nor math/physics, but I can give you direct information about the uni/city in general.
PS: Ethics is the most boring thing about philosophy. I'm so glad that I do not need to engage too much with that anymore. Epistemology/Metaphysics are the really interesting parts for me.

I don't care about practical application. In fact I think noone who really goes into philosophy cares about practical application at all. Sometimes they just have to pretend to get funding for their research. I think it's actually the same with theoretical physics (or other science) though.

If you want to go to UK Universities but don't want to take a year out to wait for next year's application round, you can also go through UCAS Clearing in July-September. However, offers will depend on what universities still have spaces left. (If people who got offers didn't meet them, their space might also open up depending.) Talk to your uni guidance counsellor at your school to see what options are right for you.

I'd be surprised if there is anything like an "uni guidance counsellor" at his school. I think in large parts of europe such a thing does not exist.

While I won't argue about metaphysics but what: how is epistemology useless? What do you think the scientific method is? The epistemology of science.
If you're going into any sort of scientific field, you absolutely need to learn the basics of epistemology, eg. inductive vs deductive reasoning, etc. O_o
