It's a pretty slow week - both team leads are off for the few days we're in the office, we got through our upgrade pretty successfully, now just moving to lights on/trouble shooting stuff in general. Lots of customers are also out of their offices. I'm currently writing my character bio

Neanderthals evolutionary path branched after they left africa certainly, but we are unsure whether they left africa in the great migration and became neanderthals, or that they evolved from animals that left africa far earlier. its the genetic mixing i mentioned before that led past scientists to believe that they were a separate species that evolved from the migratory early man. However some believe and there is some evidence, that homo neanderthalensis evolved along a parallel path to the african species, and the genetic pools recombine after the great migration. The evidence for this is mostly cultural, as the treatment of the dead and the belief in supernatural powers exist in both species, but in vastly different ways. Neanderthals created burial sites and even buried animals and objects that were important to the deceased, while in africa it was far more common to leave the dead where they lay, but hold a vigil and keep watch over the body until the group moved on often visiting the site of their dead whenever they returned. Neanderthals however, did not return to the burial sites, things were often done after the ceremony was complete. These beliefs seem to hold a common origin, however branched off into two vastly differing treatments of the dead. Why the neanderthals would bury their dead, even in winter when the ground had frozen, leads us to believe this was a spiritual ceremony done to help the dead move on, rather than just a practical farewell. So the cultural differences lead us to believe there may be a genetic split that happened further down the line than previous anticipated. Second sentence: IIRC first nations include the iroquois which absolutely were a nation. in fact many of the tribes would band together to create confederations and alliances that would essentially be treated as nations in their own right. saying that none of the natives had nations is more build from a very european-centric ignorance of native cultures. it is the same things that were believed when we wrote about natives as "savages" "A Savage nation?" was a question often presented by early anthropologists, who mostly were monks or priests. While they were certainly not constitutional nations, (neither were many european ones at that time either), they were absolutely nations. the isolated tribes that warred with anyone nearby were the exception rather than the rule, and mostly existed in the harshes terrains, swamps of florida or the deserts of utah.

One of my best buddies in high school did the same thing for his military clearance to work on weapon systems. He's like "I've lived in my college dorm playing wow for 4 years and you are literally the 5 people who know me best. Please don't get me arrested." 2 hours, 6 cups of coffee for this 60 year old woman who came to my house to interview me about him she says, "Has your friend ever plotted to kill the president?" I answered with, "The dude is an Eagle scout who's liv..." she cuts me off and says, "You could have said that an hour and a half ago and we'd have been done." Then gets up and leaves.
