I still haven't seen the last season even though I have been meaning to. My brother read the books, and he says they are a lot more supernatural than the show. The show seems much better from that standpoint, even if the books offer a different viewpoint. | ||

It's the characters, watch from season one and it pulls you in. I was telling soniv, it was originally wrote for 5 seasons but due to popularity it is constantly being picked up for another season. Seasons 6-7 are meh but season 9 is good so far and 10 starts soon | ||

Pretty much yes it's the characters and how they're written. Sam+Dean carry the show, Castiel is amazing when he arrives, Bobby is good, and a lot of the 'bad guys'(an odd term to use for the show) are fantastic as well. The show actually starts pretty slow, it struggled early on and was going to get dropped, but got a lot of momentum that for the most part has lasted(it will never reach the peak it did in s4/s5, but it's been at minimum solid ever since). On a recent retrospective they did the producers actually put it down to a single episode that changed their perspective on how they could write the show, and they took the new style and ran with it to great success. | ||
