Also, the weapon leveling system that pretty much defines R&C is barely present. It's not a bad game by any means, but it doesn't compare to 2 or 3. Ratchet 4 is also not half as good as 2 or 3, but here because it takes the R&C formula too far. This time your weapons have 99 levels, and suddenly it's hard to care. Also the story was kind of lame. That's not to say I didn't enjoy it; it's a fantastic mindless co-op game. But Ratchet 2 & 3 are way better. Jak 1 and Jak 2 are completely different games, so it doesn't surprise me if you liked 2 and not 1. I really like collect-a-thon platformers, and I don't like dark and gritty open-world games. I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT APE ESCAPE I was just trying to think if there were any games like Jak 2/3 and R&C 2/3 in the last two gen of consoles?
Well, Ratchet's kept pumping out sequels that (as far as I know) backed away from Deadlocked and returned to being like 2 and 3. The Ratchet and Clank Future games are all PS3 and all similar to 2/3.
Dunno about Jak 2/3, though. The Lost Frontier is like Jak 1, and I haven't exactly gone looking for other games like Jak 2/3.

Ah K I remember the one R&C being awful which I assume is Deadlocked, didn't know about ones afterwards. I just really enjoyed Jak 2 and the name being brought up again made me nostalgic so was wondering if there is anything similar out there. Seems like that style of game kind of vanished.

I mean, Jak 2/3 are basically GTA-ish from what I remember. So GTA, Saint's Row, or the bajillions of GTA clones? It's been a long time and I didn't play Jak 2 much, so I might be misremembering.

As far as I can tell at this point, I need a controller for FF12 and Shiny Tear.
But I am actually thinking of perhaps buying an XBox controller instead, which would be cheaper... any feedback on that?

FFT has nothing to do with 12 though at all. Other than random characters popping in from other universes in the side missions (Cloud, Balther, IIRC Yuna.)

It seems War of the Lions retcons them to be the same, but there's pretty much no direct link between the games.

Closest I've ever played to a Fire Emblem game is using Marth/Roy in Smash. Only got time to play 1 TBS on my emulator, and I'll pass up on FFT:A to try FB out. Which one should I play (GBA versions)?
Thinking Binding Blade only since Roy's in it.

I would actually recommend Path of Radiance, but Fire Emblem 7 is a good place to start too.
