Well I'd like to think people aren't being 100% serious lol. Self improvement should always be for yourself first and foremost. People that try to get in shape for reasons outside of themselves often end up failing at sustaining the lifestyle.
good point. I felt a little awkward when i was signing up for this gym and under the goals section I checked other and wrote "look good naked" when the person that read it after was a young asian girl hehe.
Haha I'm in the same boat man. I actually started gyming this week for the first time ever. Didn't tell the guy that though, think I'd die of embarrassment. I was terrified enough just going to the place lol
i just pretend everyone else is too busy to notice i'm lifting like 25s LOL, going to the gym is intimidating as fuck
The sad part is no one notices it's just all in our heads . Admire people that can just give zero fucks and do whatever they want without any embarrassment.
Let's be real, a lot of people notice. I dunno how many people came up to me to tell my form is wrong and then demonstrate some silly stuff. I dunno how many times I noticed people doing dumb exercises. I dunno how many times I did a dumb exercise myself.
Also I'm an average-height slightly chubby Filipino male. If I were a hot chick, I can only imagine what would happen.
I think gym anxiety does have its roots. I generally got over it by thinking that everyone there is stupid.
I don't know if this is maybe a difference in cultures between here and there. Generally here people don't really "butt" in. If you ask someone for help they normally pretty helpful but won't just go up to you and be like "oh you wrong" etc. It was actually one of the things I was worried about but everyone I spoke to said that almost never happens and from my limited experience I've never seen it either. I was pretty surprised about the number of hot women at the gym when I go though, man some of those older women make me feel ashamed at how fit they are compared to me.
i laugh at the ripped old foreign men doing the strangest exercises. like some kinda overhead dual cable lunge. no one says anything negative for the most part in my experience. i also pretend no one is intereseted enough to count the weight. the only thing I am embarased about is i use the smith for heavy squats. i go alone tho.
I was really tempted to share some advice to these guys doing cleans yesterday. Caught the weight with their wrists while shooting their feet out to sumo width. It was not pretty but the one guy that was doing them halfway decent was kinda leading them so meh. You do get nervous when it looks like they're going to hurt themselves but if they're doing some weird cable exercise I could care less Usually when I say something people are cool about it.
First game in pally arena, warlock starts coin flame imp undertaker then alpha wolf into just straight curve out. I manage to stabilize with Lord of the Arena into Guardian into Tirion into hammer his zombie chow because I can't keep anything on the board to defender of argus. He gets me to one (I have two more Guardian of kings in hand) and has Hellfire... ugh.
If you're an adult chances are you're either going to feel like my unsolicited advice is an affront, or you're going to think you know better. I know that's not 100% true but it's true enough that I tend not to help anyone who doesn't approach me asking for it. I sometimes make exceptions for younger guys that I've seen around enough to have a feel for their gym attitude and am fairly sure they'll appreciate the pointers.
The weirdest thing about the gym for me is that there are women there, but I've never seen anyone hit on them. It's sort of uncanny, really. And when I realized this, I realized something about the gym that would probably make life for newcomers way easier: no one cares. You're paying like 30-40 a month to work out, so you only want to work out. Kind of funny actually, the only thought that crossed my mind when a hot girl is there "oh, she's hot" and then get back to working out. Basically, no one cares what you're doing or how much you're lifting, because they're too busy caring about what they're doing :D
It runs pretty well on the 3ds. There's a few small lag spikes here or there but nothing huge. Only real complaint is that playing smash with the 3ds controls is weird. I personally don't like it for an action game but to each his own.
The controls are pretty much the reason I chose not to buy the game after playing the demo. It's probably a lot better with rebindable keys, but my initial experience with the demo was too awkward for me to take the risk.
