Westharbor(port town), Barrel's End(dwarf city), Summerdale, Willow Grove(if you need a place for a druidic circle or whatnot) are some I always liked. Street names work pretty well sometimes.

Human cities have straightforward names I think: Steelhold, Seaspell/Starspell/Shadowspell (for mage schools/towns/whatnot), Cornucopia, Widow's Crossing. I feel like Gnomes/Halflings are the same: Northpeak, Southtown.

I always just go with an "linguistic flavoring"* for towns of other races, like Norse for dwarves (Eilheim) and Arabic for elves (Le'shalar).

All names above are ones I was going to use at some point, so go for it.

* By which I mean, "does this look to an ignorant American like it could be in language X"

If there isn't a certain language connected to the people living in the town, I'd definately just go for regular town names, take some from semi-close around, to increase connection between players and characters.

I keep seeing this guy on my steam friend's list as "Lost my will to live", and the guy's always playing dota 2 or some shit. Today I went to the browser chat for steam and I see "Roffles" as the label next to the guy, and everything made sense.

I generally do my town names by some characteristic of the town, as it also makes it easier to remember for the players. For example, the starting town for this campaign was surrounded by a old, massive three-sided wall, so it was called Triford. The next town they get to (if they don't detour) will be a newly built town outside of a burnt out old town known for it's metalworking mills - so New Hammron. I can afford to be a little more caricature with the names since it's a Pokemon setting, but the idea follows.

T_T I'd totally queue with roffles for dota 2 or other fun experiences.
