Clem Serral every game going long and the full 9 games would be good too.

Knockout bracket is the losers bracket, that's why you get eliminated there. Why is this confusing to people Who said it was confusing? It's just bad. How is it bad? Explain Oliveira won three Bo5 series and ended in the same position as ShoWTimE who didn't win a single map. Any further questions? And he also lost two series. As another poster pointed out, the differentiation of 5-18 placement is a bit rough, but let's be real - that doesn't matter quite as much as 1-4. maybe it doesn't matter as much for you, but for these players it's a big difference in prize money for these players, they're working for this money it's their job Look, I've always been a proponent for MUCH flatter distribution of prizes than what usually happens in tournaments. I agree with you - but as is, it just doesn't matter as much AND I still think it's not that bad of a format even for them. It is triple elimination, they have many shots to get as much money as they can The prize distribution isn’t even that bad, I’ve seen many worse. But the format is pretty godawful. It’s where the extra lives are. Yes in theory you have those extra shots. If you’re much of this field, do you take 2 lives to try and win a mini-tournament for a Ro4 versus a Serral or a Maru who also have 2 lives. And if you fall one round short of that, you’re in the same position as everyone else bar seeding. Or would you take that extra life for a knockout bracket where you’re jostling for a decent placement, and if the stars align have a miracle run? Pros will talk a decent game about coming to win, but I would wager most of this field would pick the latter. Also I don’t recall such a huge disparity in lives in any SC2 tournament. SHINTime got one. By excelling, Dark and Clem also have 1, although they do have that sweet moolah. Everyone else has 3 It’s a complete bloody mess Moaning about format aside, gotta say GGWP herO!
Ignoring the prize pool distribution, this format only benefits the guy who comes out and get the “4th” and last spot.
Technically Serral came out from the loser bracket.
Outside then that, the format is completely fine. Everyone competing in the knockout stage are just happy for the opportunity for another chance/life
In any other tournaments. The winner bracket is Clem vs Dark and Serral in the lower bracket.
Given the prize pool and how big this tournament is. I’m willing to bet most pros prefer this format (extra lives and extra chance to have an upset )

yea I wouldn't mind that either. but I'm rooting for Dark as he's probably my favorite Zerg after Life.
And from what I understand he's going to military soon?

Who thought this was a good idea?

They should really fuck off with these loser interviews. it doesn't feel ethical nor do the guys have anything to say anyway.

He’s not beating Serral in a Bo9. I’m someone who studiously avoids betting but I’d almost wager my TL account on it.
Play a good Bo3, a great Bo5 or out of his mind in a Bo7 maybe, but a Bo9 just feels a bridge too far.
herO’s strengths are in decisive ballsy plays, Serral’s in meticulous scouting and reacting correctly.
Longer a series goes I think the harder it is to take a bunch of risks and execute right than it is to soak everything up.
Plus Serral’s a ZvP freak which I think bears repeating. It’s not like 3/4 years ago where any of Dark/Rogue/Reynor you favour going into any ZvP. Bit like Maru versus Serral, herO’s play is lethal to everyone else on his day, he just hits a brick wall when he’s up against the Finn.
Not fanboying but I do think it’s the strongest single matchup we‘ve seen. No other player would we say was looking a little shakey after only winning a series against the best player in that matchup from the other side 3-2. After 3-0ing him earlier. Usually to be looking for those chinks in the armour we’d be talking a few losses in the matchup in recent tournaments or what have you

I even understand doing one originally because maybe it sounds good in theory, but they should have like immediately realized it is not entertaining after the first one or two interviews.

Loser interviews are completely normal in sports. That said, the biggest tournament of the year is probably not the right moment to start doing them for SC2
btw in big chess tournament, they make them sit down and do a whole damn press conference next to the guy who beat them. That's gotta be brutal. Magnus Carlsen famously walked out in anger after his loss to Karjakin at the 2016 WC.

Has long irked me but hey. I think it’d be way better if they gave the players time to wind down, and invited them for a more casual chat with the casters who might ask more interesting technical questions.
I still feel it fucking sucks for the losers to bear their soul after a painful loss. But maybe giving a bit of time and having the players both there discussing the game they just played and their perception and plans they went in with could at least be interesting

Cure: I have a meme for you. herO: Hold my soju.
EDIT:
That was a very silly game and I'm glad I saw it.

Come on herO! I do like Cure too but Protoss hope and all that
|
This was definitely a herO game with that counterattack, just not the right kind of herO game
|
I can't believe he defended that - lets go!
|
Damn crazy mis micro by cure, game should have pretty much been over but didn't control vikings and 2 colossus got off 5 free shots
|
herO's such a maniac, how can you not root for this guy?
|
Hate to see games decided by costly errors and mistakes but herO probably needed all the help he could get on post youth.
