Most tournaments try to crown a champion. We aim to find out, given a set of players, who is the best of the lot. But what if our goal wasn't to find the best, but the worst player?
The Biggest Loser
This is a $1001 USD tournament featuring 8 top notch StarCraft 2 players with a different format. The event will be a single elimination, best of 5 bracket, as per usual but with one catch.
Rather than have the winner advance on to the next round and the loser drop out of the event...the loser is the one who advances on and the winner is done with the event. But the further you advance in the bracket, the less money you'll make so you want to win an exit the bracket as fast as possible.
Prize pool distribution Win in ro8 round: $200 Win in semi-finals: $75 Win in grand finals: $50 Lost every match: $1 & join clan [iLost] on every server for a month

Well, while the idea is interesting, isn't this format brutal in the sense that the final loser is confirmed the worst player of all? I mean in the normal format, early exit could be due to you facing a very strong player too early.

I dunno man, I don't think most players that lose in the first round console themselves thinking "oh well at least I might be better than X player that also lost in the first round".
Not to mention that being the worst player of this lineup is literally no shame, you are still one of the top sc2 players.
I hope that there will be a suitable physical trophy handed over. Perhaps a giant 'L' in Bronze color, with every biggest loser having their name engraved on it to mark their triumph for all eternity.
