I mean soul was 7k on eu in 2018 as well, but some take it more serious than others. Its a nice indicator for young players though, seeing a 16 y/o guy suddenly jumping from 5.8k to 6.1k shows improvement for example

Happy/soul and maybe kas (who still did decent) are the only terran ladder eu heroes who didn't perform well in tournament I can think of.

AKA the Lucifron line. I can’t think of many who are just pure ladder/practice monsters to be fair. Outside of Soul.

Luci was doing studies, sometimes he just stopped practising for 6 months but as soon as he was practising he had the results of a top eu (just like in war3 where he was insane too), his most impressive one was a top 3 at the wcs eu 2012 dominated by infest/bl. But it's clearly a lack of tournament participation who prevented him to perform.

Some of them do well in minor/online events but are almost invisible in premier ones.

But it's clearly a lack of tournament participation who prevented him to perform. I didn’t mean to diss the ‘Fron. Guy had a lot of talent. Think for a period in terms of pure mechanics he was probably the cleanest foreign T. Actually performed better when he was part time, if I recall his strong WCS Europe came when he was studying comp science full time, and his results were worse when he tried to go full time pro. Anyway didn’t mean to player bash, I was a big fan back in the day. Just meant it as a counterpoint to EU Terrans being overhyped based on ladder chops. Generally I’ve found the pattern is more Euros (and foreign Ts) in general being hyped the second they show a good tournament and then struggling to replicate it and push on. Maybe Happy? Although to be fair Happy just struggled to bring his WC3 approach to SC2. His approach to WC3 in a crude sense is to find what he considers the best build/style and just utterly perfect the execution, and it’s worked extremely well for him there!
