If the protoss can get shield battery + immortal and hold then they win. That's a pretty big disadvantage.

Proxy reaper alone isn't really risky though. Unless it's a cannon rush or something (even then you can win as terran, just not easy).

So in this specific game, Neeb had immortal and two shield batteries. However, even before that fight took place (so regardless of whether Neeb held or not, Maru was already ahead in workers, with a second base on the way and high tier tech available.

The point isn't whether it's possible to hold or not- the point is why would you ever not do these builds if they don't disadvantage your choices?

First, he didn't have immortals when the shield batteries were up.
He didn't scout properly that Maru was gonna commit with his proxy so his shield batteries were a bit late, he almost held tho.

You can be pretty screwed if the protoss reacts better as a terran doing this build with the factory proxied because it's a big commitment. It worked out for Maru yet his defense wasn't super easy afterwards, so imagine if you don't do enough damage or get scouted early: you are dead.

BO5 would be nice, but what would be better would be double elimination at the bracket stage.
