It didn't help that he faced Dark in the playoffs (who just makes every foreigner look stupid) and nearly moved on in a group with soO and Rogue

His PvZ and PvT in blizzcon 2016 were not the best. In 2017 I don't think he would have stood a chance against the top koreans either (INno, TY, herO, Dark would have crushed him). He went 2-5 against soO and Rogue in his best matchup. I think you vastly underestimate the power mentality has. That's the difference between Neeb 17-2ing WCS Montreal and his struggles at the other 3 events, mainly, as far as I saw. Mentality wouldn't have put him above Inno, Dark, herO, Rogue, etc. going into Blizzcon.
Like maybe 2016 coming off the KeSPA Cup run, but 2017? No way.

He still looked just as strong at both blizzcons as when he dominated wcs. And he never looked like he had a chance at either blizzcons. His preparation and adaptability crumbled during 2017 Blizzcon, and his set with Dark was definitely in Lilbow vein during 2016 (plus he underperformed in groups).

He went 2-5 against them. He barely won the first match 2-1 when Rogue made a lot of mistakes, then got stomped 2-0 in both follow-up matches.

Agreed. For as good as Neeb is skill wise, his mentality is terrible. Every time he starts talking to himself during a series you just know it is over. He also never gained the confidence and aura around him that comes with winning stuff all the other great players have.
Serral on the other hand improved greatly in that aspect. After looking shaky eary on in his carrer he evolved into a stone cold killer.

I don't think Neeb really underperformed against Dark vs foreign zergs. Dark was just so much better. He barely lost any ZvP that year.

the best example of Neeb mentality was when he was 1 win away from all killing Seeker's team FXO NA but then his mom told him he had to go to bed so he had to forfeit and FXO NA won the match

Of course he fell apart MORE, but it was still a disgusting individual performance by Neeb. You see it a lot clearer this year with his sets against MaNa and Silky, and now against Dark too. Once Neeb gets behind there's absolutely no coming back.

Doesn't count imo. Yes it was the Africa & Middle East qualifier, but the tournament itself was held in Dubai.
