Not really, for example , INno vs aLive wasnt rock paper scissors even if it was cheesy
aLive game one went for RFE even if the kr meta is really 2 proxy rax, and the map is good for this build, so it was a huge greed
Game 2 he spotted it was a 3rax reapers allin, he had the hard counter, took 2 reapers / 3 on the first fight, and then, a really bad decision making to send his reaper.
It's more aLive greed than "rock paper scissors" which was expressed here

Every game was cheese (with a couple quick timings).
-Inno vs aLive had Inno proxy rax both games
-Dear vs Stats was proxies other than g3 which was a failed timing by Stats.
-herO vs Dark g1 was a failed cheese by Dark, failed adept allin in g2, and g3 was a quick gold by herO folllowed by adept allin
-Classic vs Maru g1 was double proxy robo (it's a real thing now I guess), and g2 was a proxy on both sides (factory vs stargate)
I didn't catch Solar vs ByuL but I heard it was cheesefest as well
I think it's the fact that the individual matches aren't make or break for the players compared to in GSL where they like to play safe. Most of them already have decent earnings this year as well, maybe if the WCS points were relevent in SSL they wouldn't be so reckless in their play.

Well i can see the argument that no match is a direct elimination match, but if that is actually the reasoning then players are fairly stupid. As i already stated, every match is important for the endstanding here. Also i wouldn't necessarily say that players don't cheese in GSL, remember Maru's GSL group last season? He went reaper every game
Personally i think any strat is legit though i really don't like watching gameplay like that. While it might not be completely random rock-paper-scissors it's still not fun to watch and play.
About that double proxy robo build, i saw avilo play that a while ago

Well, it's true. I mean, watching those games I did genuinely think that INnoVation outplayed aLive, so I am exaggerating a little. Game 2 in particular probably shouldn't have been lost so easily, though I don't remember ever thinking he was in an advantageous spot. While there were things that aLive could have done that probably would have put him in a more advantageous early game position (scout earlier!), the proxy itself made it so that it was likely that early game build order would be the main deciding factor in the game. That's not 100% rock-paper-scissors, but in my book it's getting close, and while I enjoy a good exciting cheese at times, I found today's games pretty uninteresting as a spectator.

You can do medicore in SSL, still get decent money, play till the end of the season, and then get into next season via fast lane. While in GSL you absolutely have to win every match. Maybe the players just take it less seriously, and try to get quick wins?
If TY didn't think SSL was worth entering, I'd imagine some players in it don't put a lot of time into it for similar reasons
Perhaps if WCS points were distributed better in SSL it would be different?
