Feel bad for whoever loses. SSL challenge is a waste of time for players that are potential champion tier (all of these guys except maybe patience have been)

But if you live reasonably close by, you go there and pretty much get paid for showing up and playing practice games. Not to mention the spots in Premier (should Premier continue) which are worth a significant amount of money.

I only say its a waste of time for champion caliber players. For them primary focus is getting Blizzcon seed and a GSL win (plus big money cups like IEMs). They shouldn't waste time going to the studio and practicing for a tournament that gives no wcs points and little money (in comparison). That time is better spent hiding builds for GSL. The only exception is if SSL S3 gets announced and Challenge gives the benefit of maybe qualifying for it.
For 2nd tier players (patience, zest, jjakji etc), Challenge is great. Allows them to earn something and play live without losing in ro32s and being out for a season. And by 2nd tier I mean probably not going blizzcon
