Maru does not attend irrelevant online tournies :/ Maru 2x RO8 GSL and barely didnt make finals in SSL Premiere. I dont think he is overhyped at all he is having a good year.

TY had almost 1k in minerals floating, had been those in 20 more supply of bio he might have won. His macro didn't keep up, but I guess he was busy killing Gumi's hellions. Impressive mental strenght from Gumi tho.

Pro players play what wins them the most games. That's why everyone switched to mech in late HotS. Not because they suddenly all at once thought mech was more fun to play. But somehow the fact that everyone plays bio now to you means it's because they think it's more fun even though mech is way easier.

They switched against other races because it helped them win. I'm not saying playing mech in TvZ is wrong, if it works it works. I'm saying playing mech in TvT while bio vs bio is funnier and allows you to win just as well (since it's a mirror) is wrong. Bio is viable in TvT so you should avoid playing mech.

Because bio wasn't viable I guess? I didn't follow HotS much but I know it has been a very bad game towards the end (and even at the start with the swarm host one hour long games).

Gumiho beat TY in bio vs bio in games 3 and 4, but somehow he won game 5 because mech is OP ? Mech doesn't require the same set of skills as bio, but it doesn't mean it's easier to play. If it were "retardly easy" why do I not see anyone playing mech in TvT at my level (or in the pro scene while I'm at it, aside from GuMiho) ?

Also, for all these crazies here arguing that mech is easier than bio to play...what? If mech is so easy why for the last 6 yrs does everyone play bio at professional level 95% of the time or more? At some point you have to realize you are completely wrong and know nothing about the game.
Mech is way more difficult to play than bio because bio play can default to "making marines" and still have viable anti-air, whereas mech play you have to strategically think about the game more and balance your anti-air to anti-ground otherwise your entire army can become useless in an instant if the opponent gets air advantage.
A 200/200 supply mech army can theoretically be worthless versus 3 liberators which is why mech is so difficult to play compared to bio. You'll never see a 200/200 bio army be completely worthless in the span of 15 seconds in the game because the opponent made air units because marines are a catch-all and can target any unit in the game, air or ground.
Hopefully we see more mech games, and hopefully we see more TvZ mech versus good Zergs that know how strong swarmhosts are versus mech so blizzard can address swarmhosts.

Micro: Yes Less punitive: I guess you mean punishing; no mech is just as punishing, one time getting caught unsieged or letting a doom drop unload and it's gg.
Things that are harder for mech: Scouting: You need to scout the entire time so you can make the correct units Positioning: Your tanks need to be always placed in the perfect spots, preferably in a nice spread. decision-making: with bio you can always attack, with mech you have to figure out the best timing to attack through scouting and just general gamesense.

- I don't see how having fewer productions facilities changes macro. Fewer being generally 10/11 facilities for bio (8 raxes, 1 starport, 1 or 2 factories vs idk, 6 to 8 for mech ? (1 starport and the rest in factories. I don't see enough mech to be sure). In the end, the bio players is mostly "screwed" by the fact that he has to macro more often (bio units build quicker than mech) more than anything. - You very much can lose all your units if you look away. The eco loss being less impacting is just bullshit, it depends on the stage of the game (see the end of the post). - Similar micro for both sides : bio player has to make a concave and stim/a-move if he has enough, focus a few tanks if he can. Mech player has to siege, perhaps drop hellbats on top of the bio (if he has medivacs), and focus the marauders with the tanks. So yeah, a concave of difference, pretty much. - It's a different composition, of course if you throw your econ you lose as bio. You're supposed to trade as a bio player, not reach an unbeatable composition. If you have reached this "unbeatable composition" (in quotes because there are still many ways to lose), you can win, no matter what your eco is.

But it's not TvZ, you don't have to micro constantly. You're not parade pushing, you're amassing enough units to break the mech player.

Guys come on, all TY had to do to win after the semi base trade was to make like 2 liberators and then camp the factories with those while his vikings camp the starport.

It was impressive, but doesn't make up for losing in both gsl ro16s and not getting into gyeonggi. Maru has got ro8 or higher in every every wcs kr event right? Puts him overall above TY but bellow Inno.
TY has underperformed in korea, without katowice he'd be rank 15 on wcs....

Somehow i have a feeling that every final soO plays, his opponent just comes out with something soO has no response against. As much as i'd like him to see lift the GSL Trophy. But he has to reach it first anyway. He can make it but Rogue and Stats/Classic are not bad opponents. Hopefully if he reaches finals Innovation will help him prepare. That should be a huge plus.
Also funny to read all this whining about mech, it might be easier mechanically speaking (slightly), but winning with it isn't all that easy. If it would be a lot of terrans would play it. Really easy to grasp logic tbh.

The games were awesome, surprised by Maru TBH, since I knew Gumi or TY could make it... I didn't know Maru was that good in TvT, was new to me, but surely spectacular to watch playing the two best Micro Terrans (Maru and Byun) against each other and 2 of the best Tactical Terrans (GuMi and TY) between them as well.

Cool results, either Maru or Gumiho will finally break their gsl limit and go on to a final. Hope Gumiho does it. Guy has been in the background playing some of the greatest games of all-time since the early days and always brings variety to the table. He really deserves a big premiere win.
So TY beat GuMiho 3-2 in the ro8 of IEM World Championships and went on to win it. This time GuMiho got his revenge 3-2 in the ro8 of GSL. Can he go on to win it??
Such a tough call for the next series. Gumiho and Maru are two of my all time favorite terrans. Whoever wins, one of my favorite Terrans is in the finals!
wow sick mech game by jon gumisnow. Paused the vod and left cause after TY killed Gumiho's third base cause I thought it was over. Came back tonight, resumed, mindblown.
I thought he was dead for sure a couple times at least in this game. Impressive to reverse 3-0 TY like that.
