I find it almost better when the bracket is not known while the Ro16 is played, so that the players don't gamble on second place to get a favourite opponent. Not that I am against this strategy, but they get unreasonable backlash for it and that I don't like. If anyone would lose a match on purpose to get second plance instead of first, that would be so fucking crazy and risky, I would almost be okay with it, if a player had to balls to try it.
I think this has happened quite often. Im very certain TY did it again in SSL season 2 to avoid team killing Zest in the ro8. He was winning every game he played and randomly throws one match to Patience (who hence faces Zest in the next round).
And in SSl group stages I believe it would would happen often. Once a player wins 5 games they auto qualify for ro16. At that point it makes sense for them to lose to weaker players and make the rest of the tournament easier.
Shame blizzcon doesnt have a loser bracket for ro8 onward

I believe that TY would have rather faced Dark than Zest. Avoids a teamkill and his weakest matchup. Also, I don't think he had a losing record vs Dark until that match either?
Its just TY was on such winstreak and threw his match vs patience so hard. It looked like he wanted to lose

Oh he did, Dark has had his number forever. And he was doing poorly against Protoss at the time, it was just after his huge "throw" against sOs in Proleague (losing the game because he only killed the natural but not the free 3rd base)

Fair enough. But you gotta admit it was still a massive throw from TY. He had many opportunities to win vs Patience and he chose to lose everything in rather noobish ways, while he was on a huge winstreak. The kind of thing that normally gets people screaming matchfix (in proleague at least)

DK and BLizzard deserve some credit for Protoss mirrors being interesting

I've never said that koreans became worse nor did I say anything about foreigners
Then we don't disagree. So why exactly were you responding to me?
