It's an interesting rag-tag group of English casters you got going on there. Nice to see Wardi and PengWin cast something this big.
Is the round robin 2 rounds, or why is there so much time for the group stages? (I realize there is only 1 stream but even then 12 hours for group A total seems too much)

Unfortunately the games won't probably run as smoothly as we'd like them to due to same HearthStone/StarCraft 2 mixed stage setup that we had in Kyiv.

who are the caster for the spanish stream?

Unfortunate to see that Xenocider pulled out. I'm surprised no one else was able to replace him.

I'm calling an EGG vs eGGz final WESG doesn't bother with replacements. In APAC there were no participants for the Philippines qualifier so the spot in the qualifier main event was just removed entirely. You know, instead of being a wild card for all the other players who didn't manage to qualify.

You know, instead of being a wild card for all the other players who didn't manage to qualify. Honestly this is not 100% correct as we've replaced AqueroN and NaNiwa in European finals. The problem is that we're allowed to replace LAN attenders only with players from the same country which was not possible in Xeno's case as we didn't have enough time to get VISA for replacement player. We're not responsible for APAC qualifiers but I guess that the same rule was applied there. No players from Philippines - no LAN spot.

why there is no portuguese stream? specially when it is an event in Brazil.

Do casters need to be on the venue to cast or can they do it from home? and if they are allowed to cast not in the studio can they still apply?
Thanks for the reply!

I am really sad to read the answer about the brazilian cast. We've just finished Copa America in Sao Paulo, last friday, and we had a really good feedback from the community. As a caster, it saddens me that, we have a good event in our country, but to be able to cast, itll be as a community caster and via clean feed. So yea, we didnt approach you, because a professional company should research the scene. You have 2 good casters near the event, Pedroca and Barba, you wouldnt even pay hotel or transportation, and you let it go. As an enthusiast to try and develop the local scene, this was not a good approach in my opinion. Sorry that you dont share my same thoughts.

So you didn't approach us because you thought that we had to approach you first while we didn't approach you or any other broadcaster because we're not familiar enough with the local scene. That's unfortunate. We are always open for community broadcasts as we had French, German and Polish streams during the European part of our event and we're also featuring Spanish community broadcast for the American event. All those broadcasters approached us about this possibility and we gladly provided them with it. If any organizations or community broadcasters are interested in covering American LAN event, we're still able to make it happen.
|
I specifically didnt approach you, due to the fact I, Sefirofe, was not going to be able to cast, since I would not be able to be in Sao Paulo or give any support this week and I learned about this event last week. But I couldnt stay quiet when I saw your justification that you wouldnt provide local portuguese cast because of low viewership numbers.

Please separate community broadcasts and potential broadcast organized by StarLadder from the venue with hired local casters together with the English stream. We're always open for the first option, but unfortunately not ready for the second one. The situation is absolutely the same in all WESG titles, as far as I know. I'm sorry for not sharing your thoughts about how the broadcast had to be held, but we indeed have no other options available for this event =/ Maybe something will still be arranged, we'll see.

The first set of Group A series is over, we're going exactly as scheduled so NoRegret vs eGGz is our next match starting in ~25 minutes at 18:30 CEST .
|
The second set of Group A and B series went quite smoothly and is over as well - now we're waiting for HearthStone to finish on stage and going to start the final set of series for today at around 21:30 CEST

I was really hoping that WESG would learn from the EU production and step up somehow to make it better for NA.
A 40 minute countdown into a weird stream spasm and then they put up a new timer at 15 minutes or something with a completely different matchup on the screen.
The majority of the time when I look at the stream it's a timer.
This is just silly, and I have zero interest in this tournament because of the production.

This is just silly, and I have zero interest in this tournament because of the production. you are either biased or unlucky with checking the stream. We have had very little downtime today actually. The 45 minute timer was because we had to wait for HS to finish on stage and move the players to the stage.
It's 10 minute timers between matches off-stage and 15 minute timers between matches on-stage, that's all the timers we'll show except for breaks or technical issues.

...i did not get the fact that the MajOr vs. EGG match was not played due to it being ininfluent but the score was set to 2-0 for EGG... did MajOr forfeit the match? I ask this 'cause this 2-0 is not really so "ininfluent" for the final results of this group...

To clear this up: It's head to head over map score, so even if Major would win 2-1, he would still be first because he beat Scarlett.

Every map is Protoss favored because you can make adepts on all of them Gold base 3rds are just never a good plan if you want your map to be balanced. Although I yearn for more Classic-esque rock snipes. Yea it just compliments the Zerg macro mechanic a little too well i feel.
But as you say. ADEPTS MAN.

You know, the other day I killed like 40 workers with bane drops when off-racing. But the toss went sky toss and I wasn't really sure what to do against a huge air army like that (who knew 3/3 corruptors are still garbage?). So in the end I base raced and lost by 1 pylon.
I wanna see something like that.

One small thing I don't think people are giving Major enough credit for is he's actually stayed on Invasion for 8 months now. That's the longest he's ever been on a team.

At this rate I could actually see Neeb going out in the first round at Blizzcon against Patience and TRUE. Not quite optimal.

3 Spines, Major tried to counter with one Bunker next to the Proxy Hatch -> Bunker fell and the Spine Crawlers started killing the Depots at the top of the ramp and won the game. (Supported by 2 Overlords to give vision + Zerglings + Queens)

maybe, maybe not... she won a fight she wasnt supposed to because major wasnt even trying to split the whole time, if the next 1 or 2 go the same way she'd be fine (at that point she had an army, both 4th and 5th up albeit not mining that much, and 20 supply behind, but major was left with almost no factory units)

Scarlett played around it and took the game. I'm pretty confused by Major first over committing to the tank push then under-committing to the follow up. But that was absolutely a dominant performance by Scarlett.

Scarlett, Nerchio, and Stephano win each of their qualifiers.
Some things never change.

wow it's actually been quite a while since Scarlett won something. Feels like she wins things all the time somehow lol. Makes this win even better I guess
Anyway was a good finals to watch, lots of action

He was 50 supply down and his bio army was tiny due to overmaking liberators. Even in a direct engagement Scarlett rolls him over unless miraculous mine shots happened.

Major should have attacked sooner and should have had his mines and his army forward.
At the time of writing Scarlett wasn't up 50 supply. She was up marginally in a mostly ling muta army. That was the opportunity. Mines, liberators, marines, medivacs, everything was there.

Thanks everyone for tuning in!
We've done our best in hosting WESG and we're really happy about how this event went. If only there were less tech issues in Kyiv, WESG would be an awesome experience for all StarCraft fans. However, we hope that American finals will help you to save good memories about World Electornic Sports Games in general and about StarLadder hosting SC2 events in particular.
Feel free to provide any sorts of feedback here. Good luck & have fun, watch and support StarCraft 2 - see you next time!

Hahahaha this prize presenter is legendary
'how do you feel major '' it sucks to lose' 'ok this is for you congrats bye'
'are those your friends scarlett?' 'i dont know them but thanks for the support' 'ok this is for you congrats bye'

what happened the last game any brief recap?

Game on King Sejong Station. MajOr opens with 4 hellions and double banshee harass; doesn't end up doing much damage. Scarlett gets distracted and doesn't break down the rocks, but holds off the tank push easily nevertheless. She goes into ling/bane/muta, but majOr scouts it early and goes for a lot of liberators. He pressures the fourth but isn't too successful due to an upgrade deficit. Scarlett does a lot of damage with a huge ling/bane runby severely supply blocking majOr and killing a bunch of SCVs. MajOr goes for another push but another ling/bane runby devastates his bases, and what's left of his ground army gets overrun.

No biggie, just minor kinks.

Also they've been practicing together for months, so might as well consider a teamkill and not give it too much weight

Ok thanks. I've already rewatched the vods of the games I wanted to learn builds from, but replays are more appealing to me because of POV of player and what decision he made according to what he was looking at etc... That game of sky terran on apotheosis was really inspiring for me to try something different in TvZ. Great tournament overall and a very very nice grand finals !
