TL hosts KeSPA Cup Qualifiers
September 7th, 2016 18:18 GMT
This Tuesday KeSPA Cup 2016, the first Global Event of 2016 was announced. Today, Teamliquid is pleased to announce that we will be running qualifiers for both the AM and EU regions for this event: - EU Seed Challenge: 2 Players (Europe)
- AM Seed Challenge: 2 Players (North America, Latin America, China, Oceania, Southeast Asia, Taiwan)
- The AM Qualifier will be held on the AM server at Thursday, Sep 15 10:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
- The EU Qualifier will be held on the EU server at Friday, Sep 16 4:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
- Both tournaments are residency locked, meaning only European players (and pre-approved resident players) can play in the EU qualifier. Only players resident of countries listed under the AM region (and pre-approved players) can play in the AM qualifier. Review the WCS residency requirements here.
- Both tournaments will be double-elimination. The top two players from each tournament will qualify for KeSPa cup and be provided travel and accommodations.
- Players must have achieved Master's league on the server in question in the current season to play these qualifiers.
- For inquiries about broadcasting these qualifier please reach out to KeSPA at: webmaster@e-sports.or.kr
Additional Rules for Players- The primary form of contact will be through Discord on the KeSPA Cup Qualifier server.
- The official battle.net channel for the tournament is KeSPACup on both servers. This channel can be used to find opponents but communication should be done on Discord whenever possible.
- Check-in opens 1 hour before each tournament begins. Please check-in and be in the Discord channel during this check-in period.
- Players must report win and upload replays to challonge after each round.
- The map pool used will be the current ladder map pool.
- All rounds will be played in a Bo3 format except for the following four matches which will be played in a Bo5 format:
- Winners Semifinal #1
- Winners Semifinal #2
- Winners Final
- Losers Final
- For Bo3 matches, map picks will be done in the following manner:
For all Matches, the higher seeded Player must choose to act as Player A or Player B. For all Best of 3 Games Matches, Player A must veto one Map first, then Player B must veto two Maps, and then Player A must veto one more Map. The vetoed Maps will not be played in the Match. Player B must choose the Game 1 Map and then Player A must choose the Game 2 Map. The Game 3 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been chosen or vetoed.
- For Bo5 matches, map picks will be done in the following manner:
For all Matches, the higher seeded Player must choose to act as Player A or Player B. For all Best of 5 Games Matches, Player A must veto one Map first and then Player B must veto one Map. The vetoed Maps won’t be played in the Match. Next, the Players must alternate choosing each Game’s Map, starting with Player A choosing the Game 1 Map. The Game 5 Map will be the Map that hasn’t been vetoed or chosen for Games 1-4.
- Seeding will be done as close as possible to WCS point standings.
- Players will have 15 minutes to start their match from when the match is ready. If either player is not present after 15 minutes is up, he will forfeit the match.
- If a player disconnects during a game, the game will be resumed from replay. If a player disconnects and does not come back online within 15 minutes, he will receive a game loss. For each additional 15 minutes he is offline, he will receive another game loss until he loses enough games to lose the match.
Coverage and Observer Rules- No observers are allowed in games other than those designated by TL.
- TL will designate "approved" observers who will be allowed to observe and broadcast games (if applicable).
- TL referees are also allowed to be in game.
- If the host invites a non-approved observer to the game and starts, the game will not count.
- If game lags with an approved observer in game, that observer must leave at the request of a player. If a TL referee is in game, he will make this decision.
- Observers and broadcasters are subject to the same rules for cheating and abuse as players. TL may suspend observers from future TL events if violations occur.

I demand a Nazgul cast!
(Or at least some tl employee)

Sent an inquiry to broadcast the qualifiers, hope to hear back
|
That's unexpected. This qualifier already seems better organized than most of the qualifiers this year at any rate.

This would be amazing, every event needs a touch of Gauntlet StarCraft in it imo :p

what's wrong with discord?

With all the respect for the great history of TL-run tourneys (TSL3 basically got me watching SC2), this seems a little out of place. Why don't you guys share a little bit of background how did this all happen?

Blizzard pls have some decency and support (I mean $$$) this event. No "WCS Circuit or nothing" bs.

Can citizens play, or do you have to be in the country in question to play, because if so Neeb is out of luck.

by Monk : Yes
Together with Nerchio's post, does that mean Koreans can only play for the NA qualifier and NOT the EU one?
PS : awesome, congrats TL looking forward to the qualifier.
|
I need to cover this.. my body is telling me I need to do it!
|
Man, 13 days before it starts. Talk about short notice for one of the biggest events... I wonder if setting this up was super hard to do?
Neeb, Scarlett, and the foreign Koreans will almost certainly be the NA reps. EU will be interesting though! Nerchio & Showtime feel like the safe picks?

This is pretty big, I didn't think TL would be asked to do this, but it makes sense as a pillar of the foreign community.

Maybe I can get stu to cast with me and someone who has a stream
|
We're actually getting a global event in a league called "World Champsionship Series". Thanks blizzard! Oh wait. It was KesPa....
As neurotic and overbearing as Kespa comes off. At least they know how to organize a league and host events.

Are there any confirmed ENG casts for the EU & NA qualifiers yet?
EDIT: Guess I needed to contact lichter as well as email Kespa, hope to hear something back soon..

Depends who is willing to work for free, cos that's what they're asking for. I kinda hope nobody at all is willing to do that just to teach em a lesson but we all know that won't happen.

I never got a reply from Kespa or confirmation on the details, but yeah i can't say I disagree. We aren't exactly a money making machine so that's probably why we didn't get a reply in the first place, which is a shame because my guys are eager to do these types of things.

You might want to correct the time for the AM qualifier. Pretty hyped to cast those, it's basically a blizzcon qualifier for some players.
