PRIZE POOL BREAKDOWN
1st place: $2,000 USD
2nd place: $1,000 USD
3rd/4th place: $600/400 USD
5-8th place: $250 USD
This tournament is online only and will feature qualifiers leading into 2 group stages, leading to a RO8 single elimination. Qualifiers will be all Bo3, all group stage matches will be Bo5, semi-finals will be Bo7 and the grand finals will be a Bo9. All dates posted are tentative and subject to change based on conflicts of interest and player's schedules.
QUALIFIER DETAILS (more details below)
2 North American Qualifiers (single elimination) - CANADA, UNITED STATES, MEXICO
2 European Qualifiers (single elimination)
2 Korean Qualifiers (single elimination) - KOREA, JAPAN, CHINA/TAIWAN
2 Wild Card (GLOBAL) Qualifiers (single elimination)
*Eligibility for each qualifier will be based on residency. To be perfectly clear, it you are a North American citizen living in Korea, you must play the Korean/Wild Card qualifiers. If you are a European living in America, you must play the North American qualifiers. Any regions that aren't listed must compete in the wild card qualifier (SEA/South Africa/etc)
There will be 8 Invite spots reserved to be issued after the qualifiers, and will most likely be used to invite those that failed back, based on performance. Invite slots are entirely up to TING to use as they see fit!

Notable changes:- Prize pool is less top heavy
- Qualifiers are single elimination
- Group Stage #2 will remain region segregated
- Snute, Masa, Mana & Rogue have invites directly into Group Stage 2, creating a small change on how players transfer from Group Stage 1 -> 2. First place winners will advance like normal, but second place players will have to play an additional "tie breaker" Bo5 to determine who advances.

Ting is definitely the best T(h)ing!
Generally, I was never watching many online tournaments, but with the lack of offline events for both Koreans and foreigners (which is the most interesTing Ting), this tournament goes pretty high in rankTing!
The level of players in the first Open Ting was really high and I hope to keep this in the second Open Ting as well. The format is interesTing as well with the "region locked" groups in stage 1 and non region lock in stage 2.
Definitely looking forward to it!!!

I don't really understand the format, 20 players, 2 groupstages and if you're lucky to get into a group that has the number 2 in it you can directly advance to the ro8, while those players from group #1 will have to get to the second groupstage first !? I guess it's just a mistake and that "group 2" is supposed to be "groupstage 2"? I'm super confused by now )=

Better thinking, if you play someone who's much better than you, you have their replays legitimately and can learn from them without waiting for tournament repacks, or stream repacks..

I would love for the map pool to follow the ladder. I understand it's nice to stand out but with the addition of Frost and King sejong soonTM, it would be enough diversity to stick to it imho  !

So i counted 20 players from the 12 that come from qualifiers and the 8 invites. Who are the other 12 players since you need 32 to do a 32 man group stage. Are they the other 12 players from the s1 ro16 @riftken???

It says that there are going to be 32 players competing in the tournament but I only count 24 (12 from qualifiers + 8 invited + 4 seeded in Round 2). I may be completly misunderstanding the post but can someone please try explaining it to me :/

They will be doing alot more invites to keep equal racial distribution instead of that crazy spread last ting open. Just said on stream to answer my question from an hours ago :D!!!

i predict BasetradeTV will award and pay out more money at this event than will be paid out at the $400,000 WESA tournament. Imagine turning that into a headline somehow ..... "we'll pay out more cash that $400,000 WESA Event" ... or somethin'.
more seriously, great work getting Ting to commit to a 2nd season. your repoire with regular viewers allows you to be a good "pitch man" for Ting's services. My #1 SC2 playing partner uses Ting and she loves it and she says its super reliable.

Hello everyone, writing an update here.
We'll be changing some of the future dates, I'll be back later tonight to update, for a couple reasons:
1 - With ROOT's upcoming EU vs NA showmatch series falling on the same day as the NA qualifiers, we don't want to force players to pick and choose between the two (as qualifier spots are limited) this way everyone should be able to compete in both a bit more freely
2 - With how overloaded our current schedule is, we won't want to force folks to go straight from qualifiers into the group stages with moving the NA qualifier and shuffling the groups around. We really do want folks to have at least a day to see who their opponents are and prepare appropriately
New dates coming soon, but TLDR everything is pretty much just shuffled 1 week over

This is sad. I understand, sOs does not play in many online tournaments ... and he does not have a good experience with those, where he played. Last time, he participated in the Kings of StarCraft tournament together with his team mates, and it ended up in the stupid event that he had to play the finals on the Korean New Year's night at 2:00 a.m. At a time, when the Koreans for sure do not want to play tournaments.
It was nice to have him play in the Ting tournament. I do not know, how does it work at Jin Air's team house, but although this was a purely Korean group, the timing was done so that he had to play his decider match again at 2:00 a.m. Maybe, he was disturbing some team mates, who wanted to sleep, e.g. Rogue before his tomorrow's SSL group ... Anyway, he should not have agreed to participate if he did not want to give it the effort.

We are currently looking at July 2nd for the 2nd place group finals as well (still need to confirm with players), following the 4th - 9th would be the RO16 -> Ro8 -> SemiFinals+Finals

it's pretty reckless not to go into roaches/2gas in those positions, 95% of the time you're better off launching heavy pressure (may "look like an all-in") and either go hard or play transitional behind it depending on what you scouted. saturating 3rds or going into chamber/lair before launching attacks was common in frost horizontal in hots. but in lotv it's nearly impossible and usually senseless
