I have no earthly idea why. They also removed the female only tournament and the prize money for the players. It's way worse than the 2014 one all around. The only redeeming qualities of this tournament are Has and the Archon showmatch.

Once in the year, the IeSF make a international tournament, where every national eSF can send one player/team per game. The national eSF decide who this player/team is, some hold qualifiers to determine that like sweden, some just send a player of their choice. It is more like a very very small olympic system.
The IeSF wanted to hold the tournament first in poland, but after the city there didnt want it anymore, they moved to the nexon arena in Seoul.
As alot of nations do not have members of the IeSF (I called them here national eSFs), countries like Germany or France do not send players there. The money will be given directly to the national eSFs, via their point system and the national eSFs decide what to do with the money. I think most of them just give everything to the players (or keep it on their own for "travel costs) according to the points the players made. But the national eSFs could also use them Jack Warner style.
They are doing this tournament style every year, last year it was in Baku and Zest slayed everyone.
I still dont get why they do it as there are not enough national eSFs for a good competition (and Korea wins everything in LoL and SC II anyway if they would not send a SPL player)

They initially had a female tournament, when the tournament was supposed to happen in Poland. (MaddeLisk was even already qualified) But for some reason they couldn't do it in Poland in the end, and moving to the NEXON Arena, they had to downsize the event and keep the "Open for all" tournament only.

Really? I found the second one too troll for my taste. I guess they're trying to showcase the units?

That last game didn't look close at all... Zest is gonna suck so much in LotV T_T
Zest didn't win anything at the start of HotS either. Game's been out for less than a month and this was Archon mode against Maru and sOs. Don't start crying already.
Only me who is confused? It said that the Aphrodite vs Serral game was going to be before the Archon games, all i saw was people talking > archon games > stream ended

Two things I didn't know were just revealed to me by finding this LR: That IESF was running a full SC2 tournament this yesr, and that Zanubis was still playing.
The list of tournaments on Liquipedia's main page (or the "Liquipedia calendar" if you want) is for Premier and Major tournaments. The prize pool of this tournament is still not announced, so basically it's not even minor (Prize pool is an important part of deciding the tier of a tournament), it's "nothing".
No information about the prize pool, but at least top 3 players had a medal and a Xenics StormX Titan keyboard. Serbia also got a cup for winning the whole thing with cumulated points.
