Scarlett is back for our second set of DH9 Mod Showmatches, this week facing off against Team Redbloods' PiLiPiLi!
Tensions have been running high between Scarlett and PiLiPiLi ever since their meeting in the WCS NA qualifiers and we are excited to bring you their epic grudgematch! To make things more interesting, this match will be played on the DH9 Economy Mod and we're sure that both players will be bringing out new and interesting builds to suit the changes in economy.
The GrudgeMatch will be a Bo7 series played on the current map pool.
Lets hope this time they actually get the concept of DH9 also this time could you guys use the legacy mod? The wholebpurpose of dh9 is to get Legacy stats

Pili knocked Scarlett out of one of the WCS qualifiers. Scarlett tried to get revenge in a ESL NA tournament but when they met in the finals Pili's keyboard broke and couldn't play, so this is the rematch

Exactly, having DH8/9/10 in HotS is pointless.
I think it's better actually, because right now we need to see how a change in economy can affect the metagame and the strategies, and the best way to test this is to put it in a game that's already been played for 2 years. In LotV, the economy change would be overshadowed by all the weird strategies/imbalances. I can't word it properly but I hope that you get what I mean.

I disagree that it's pointless. The main point of these matches is to showcase provable differences from the vanilla game configuration, and that is more easily demonstrated in a more established metagame than in a very new one that is currently in flux. Particularly given the recent LotV patch that severely nerfed what was currently a core zerg unit, in the Ravager.
Granted, I still think that we should be demonstrating on a mod that has a more severe efficiency curve between 8 worker saturation and 16 worker saturation, just to showcase the difference. But I'll try to keep my proselytizing to the more relevant threads.
Please, let Scarlett know that expanding is more beneficial in DH9, but it is not a must have! I felt, in the previous showmatch, that she felt it is obligatory and that she was taking some unnecessary risks when doing so...

DH9 is just a small nudge to the economy...
She has been doing some more theorycrafting about the mod so we will see what she comes up with this time!
Last week we did see that she was getting a pretty large income boost but it just wasn't enough to counter the hyper aggressive play of Parting, we will see what she has planned for PiLi
Looking forward to it, thank you again for making it happen! Also, if we could hear from the players - afterwards - what is their opinion on DH9 and how it affected their play... I don't expect too big changes, but maybe some

Yeah and please consider doing vods with sound this time also with the interview at the end, since this is impossible to watch due to timezone. Thanks!

your contributions to the forum are getting incredibly useful nowadays; the things I learn from you are worth opening the thread multiple times just so I can absorb this knowledge. Thanks boss

Bask in the cornucopia of knowledge that are my posts then.
seriously though, i was talking with them and they should have the sound issues fixed. also they're getting zeromous on to talk about the economy so this one should go much more smoothly than last

unfortunately it seems like Zero is too busy atm, life things and all that
We are having Jakatak on the show though and hes really excited :D
Looking forward to this match. Too bad the last one didn´t work out as you intended with the production problems and inability to upload VODs, but I´m sure it will be better this time. I will probably be able to see the beginning live and will catch up on the rest with VODs . Good luck, hope this time everything will check out . EDIT: Just realized, I guess there won´t be any quality options? Is it 1080p60? Hope my connection will have low aggregation.

Darn source, I was a solid few minutes behind and it looked like Scarlett was winning game two but I had to restart and she had just lost. Gonna give up and watch VODs. Go Scarlett
Notice though how Scarlett never transfered workers to her 5th and was even on less workers for some time, that's so punishing in the eco mod. I hope it doesn't increase to the snowball effect in SC2.
Watched it. Really enjoyed it I think these games exemplified the harvesting system much better - what it is, and what it is not. As Scarlett points out, it gives more aggression opportunities; committing forces to deny or take down an expansion is worth it. But the change is not game-breaking. It is not a completely new game, just a tuned up Starcraft 2.
Thank you very much for making it happen!
Just a quick comment to questions casters had during the stream:
the difference between DH10 (2x5) and DH9 (3x3) is that there are actually three harvests instead of two.
You are right, that the data we have are obtained through testing and not just theoretical math.
Having ZeromuS with you would probably help in those very technical questions. While not the original author of the model, he knows it very well and is able to explain and sell it very well

Thanks for the feedback, tough to remember all of those things in the moment :p
We would have loved to have ZeromuS on but life got in the way
