Is this really the top 16 players globally? The level of play seems rather underwhelming. Have Korean players been banned or something? No lol. This is the best players outside of Korea. At this point the difference between the Korean players and everyone else is at an all time high. There are a few Korean's who have some degree of citizenship and a few foreigners are half decent. Blizzard implemented a region lock so Koreans without citizenship cannot play outside of Korea. In order to make up for that there are now two individual leagues in Korea again (Like broodwar) GSL, SSL (run by SPOTV, who runs proleague), and obviously Proleague. Then there are the foreign tournaments where more and more Kespa teams are allowing their players to travel to. To put it in context, none of the top 16 players in the wcs standings currently are attending this tournament. Oh ok, thanks for this. So the top 16 only compete once a year at global finals? Also what's SSL?

Also what's SSL? SSL = Starcraft Starleague, It's the other individual league in Korea, run by SPOTV (who runs Proleague). Thing of it as a second GSL, but run largely by Kespa. At the end of the year the top 16 in wcs standings compete at the global finals in L.A. WCS points can be claimed by playing in individual league's during the year, with the most points awarded to premier tournaments like the GSL Code S, IEM WC, etc. Here is a link for more information on the system: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2015_StarCraft_II_World_Championship_Series
