  • Registration closes at 04:00 GMT (+00:00) the Friday before tournament day, with the bracket being finalised after players have checked in on Saturday
  • The map pool will be the current Battle.net 1v1 ladder maps at the time of tournament

The official tournament schedule will be a little different moving forward, with only Saturday and Sunday having tournament matches played. However, we will be meeting up and broadcasting MWC Day 0 on Friday, where the players and casters get to play team games, arcade games, and any other fun SC2 options that night! Players, casters, and viewers will all get to know each other a little bit better, and relax a little bit before the big weekend of games!
The open bracket will start on Saturday, and we will play all games up until only 4 players remain. Those 4 players will compete on Sunday to see who claims the top spot!

Friday: Mar 27th, 23:00 GMT (+00:00) to 03:00 GMT (+00:00) for fun/casual games!
Saturday: Mar 28th, 18:00 GMT (+00:00) to 01:00 GMT (+00:00) (approximate end time)
      - first day of official tournament matches
Sunday: Mar 29th, finals day, 18:00 GMT (+00:00) to 23:00 GMT (+00:00) (approximate end time)

To encourage lower league players, we’ll be awarding “top finisher” badges to the players who achieve the highest finish respective of their ladder league. For example, the Silver player who makes it the deepest in the tournament will receive a virtual “badge” that recognizes their achievement.
As there will probably be a number of ties for this category, we’ll end up running side-tournaments for any players that tied in their league. We want this system gives players of all skill levels a chance to be competitive at some time throughout the tournament!

MWC4 Top Finishers
Master - Hypernia
Diamond - Recksaw
Platinum - Otsegoflesh
Gold - Wormlips
No lower league players

All players must live in the Midwest. To verify this, you’ll need to get a picture of your driver’s license (or other government-issued photo ID) and black out the personal information except for your picture, first name, and state. Then include that picture in your registration form. For an example of a good picture that proves residency, check out my lovely mugshot: http://imgur.com/Vq9rzTb

Use this form to register

We will be streaming as many matches as we can get to on twitch.tv/nivek706. During the games on Saturday, we won’t be able to broadcast all the matches due to time constraints, but for the finals on Sunday we will broadcast all of the final games.

  • Tournament that runs every other month for players in the Midwest
  • Free to enter, always at least a $200 prize pool
  • Tournament is always the last Friday through Sunday of the odd-numbered months
  • Streamed at twitch.tv/nivek706, March 27-29
  • Detailed info document
  • Detailed rules document
  • Register here before Saturday, Mar 28 4:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)

Hey Moka, right now they're more of just an individual prestige thing. Unfortunately, there's not really any way to recognize a person in-game, but I've been keeping track of top finishers by league and hop to be able to do something fun to recognize/reward people that consistently play and do well! If you have any ideas, I'd be happy to hear them as well

Basically, the goal is to try and make a tournament that is as fun as possible for all of the people involved!

Nivek, I've sent you an email and PM regarding how I'd like to contribute. Let me know if you got them. I know Twitch often puts stuff in the "Other" folder more times than not.

Trust me, that's the dream haha...people are way spread out in the area so it's certainly tough to organize, but I'm hoping to do more offline stuff this year!

However, as far local LAN tournaments, there was the first ChiCraft this past winter, and we'll certainly be doing another one over the summer (June/July-ish?). There isn't an official announcement for it yet, but here's the thread from the winter: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/sc2-tournaments/473050-chicraft-lan-tourney-free-entry-500-prize-pool

Nevada totally counts as the midwest right?

When (or if?) a LAN happens, it is purely "show up in person" to participate? Meaning, I wont have to be a mid-west resident?

Either way, hope it all goes well! I'll be in the chat, silently judging the players.

Update post!

First, a reminder that sign-ups close at 11pm CDT this Friday! So there's still time to sign-up if you haven't!

Next, a HUGE thanks to DjSpectre for contributing to the prize pool, bumping it up to $300! The breakdown is updated in the original post. Check him out at twitch.tv/djspectre (especially for Thursty Thursday!)

Thanks everyone who has signed up or expressed interest in watching!

Saturday's start time is listed as 12pm CST, which I think is 1pm now that it's daylight savings. nivek, can you confirm the start time on Saturday? Thanks.

Yeah, all the times should be CDT, I marked up the post so that TL should be able to convert to any timezone, but I'm not sure that they got the Daylight Savings Time switch... qq

Anyway, for those of us that are in CDT, here are the start times for each day.
Friday: 6pm CDT
Saturday: 1pm CDT
Sunday: 1pm CDT

If you're in Eastern time, add an hour.

I know it's unlikely, but does the stream have any quality options? I'll probably still try and watch at some point, but I lag a lot when Twitch makes me watch in Soutce.
