Note: This group selection is completely random except two random people get to change their group. The announcer draws people out of a box, and they draw balls out of the box to determine their spot in a group. Two people drawing golden balls get to change their group.
(Vote): Group A: Terminator, FanTaSy, Leenock, Super (Vote): Group B: Stats, Classic, Life, herO (Vote): Group C: Dear, GuMiho, Rogue, MyuNgSiK (Vote): Group D: TY, Dark, Dream, Maru (Vote): There is no group of death
If I had to make an educated guess I'd assume the top 3 seeds: herO, Life, for certain, Classic as well only because 1.He's previous GSL champion, and 2. He made RO4 at Blizzcon.
Note sure on who the fourth could certainly be but Maru would probably be the best shout.
Myungsik and Fantasy have the best chances of being picked early, if for no other reason than the fact that they're both in the Top 16 without a teammate.
People are going to underestimate Dream and pick him early thinking he is just some mid-tier SKTerran, but little do they know, he's the hidden ace of SKT. They have been hiding him, waiting to play the Dream card at the right moment in Proleague.
Though, maybe all the Zergs were paying attention and saw he had amazing TvZ and so won't pick him.

Dear looks like a Korean celebrity called Yoo Jae Suk who's famous for doing a 'grasshopper dance,' that's what Dear was imitating before. He also chose a Yoo Jae Suk song.

I haven't heard a thing about it yet but I tuned in when the songs were starting.
btw I like how all th eyoungsters were like showing their shit etc, and Fantasy walks in like, STFU GTFO I'm the veteran I don't need that rubbish to prove myself

Gives you the power to switch out of your group and trade with anyone except the other person who got a golden ball (the two balls were claimed by Dark and Leenock).

Otaku's worse than nerd, though. But I don't know if the bad connotations apply in the Korean word for it, which got translated into English by Wolf, from the original Japa-- oi...

you'd think that considering they all play sc2 professionally but there might be a different connotation or degree to the term in Korea. herO and Dark seem pretty self assured and less socially awkward than most of the people there.

Need more people to pull a Stats. Exit stage right.

This so much. Interviews are cool and all, but I signed up for a group choosing. Why not do that and then the interviews after, for whoever wants them...?

Well I said it before Dream got in that group... Dark gonna bail out to group C
Don´t koreans sweat at all? I start sweating if i have a hoodie when I'm inside and those guys have full winter jackets on!! Or is it just freezing there to save electricity? :D
Ok so before people will call me butthurt over this because my team is about to get majorly shafted, but having 3 Jin Air players in a single group only as a result of that retarded golden ball (which is really unfair) is stupid.

Yeah with Dear or Gumi probably. Would be smart of him imo.
Dark is pretty beastly in TvZ so I'd rather think he would switch with Dear.
Gumiho's TvZ is strong as well, 70% match win rate vs koreans since July last year.
Ye his style is pretty frustrating so I don't think zergs like to play against him at all.
Still better than playing against Protoss? :p
Dark's ZvP is kinda bad(ish) compared to his other MU's so he could switch with Dear yeah. But Gumi's mech style, aaww heelll nooo zergs don't like that.

Why edit from B to C? I think B is a better group. People just like to underrate Stats and Classic way too much. D is the most stacked though with 3 top tier players.

Yeah, Leenock pls switch herO/Life with Terminator.

No, it's stupid.
You give so much power to 2 people in a randomized environment. Like, this influences the entire tournament majorly.
so? This changes 4 people out of 16. If we assume that we have a equally strong ro16 this isn't that bad at all. Also it adds storyline and drama which is great.

Agreed, he's having about the roughest group possible. Dark is soo good at TvZ too.
I think he much prefers facing TY and Dream over the old facing of Terminator (teamkills aren't fun, usually) and herO (who has caused Maru quite some trouble in the past). I'm confident in his chances if he practices TvT properly, although it might be a bit rough.

Ro16 isn't equally strong and we're dealing with different matchups. Giving the power to 2 out of 16 players to essentially redefine the groups is incredibly stupid.

I agree. herO and Life are way more proven than Dream and Dark who people are overrating slightly. Plus Stats and Classic are extremely underrated in general.

Yeah i don't agree at all. It might not be 100% fair obviously, but in the end you have to be better than your opponent and you have enough time to prepare. The only thing bad about it is the gsl style format

Yes, but it also partially comes down to luck. Indeed, adding the GSL style to it in combination with the odd RO32 makes it.... very meh in determining who is "best".

I dunno, he was already hyped as fuck last year around the same time and then failed in Code S Ro16 iirc. He might very well lose to a player like Dream, and then TY and Maru love their unorthodox strats.

Dark has NEVER been as hyped and more importantly he has NEVER looked as good as he is now. The difference between him this time last year and him now is like night and day.

I think I remember casters and more importantly other SKT players like Rain saying that he was the best in in-house practice and thus was an exceptionally strong player, he was a contender to win Code S. Then he went on to be eliminated, and soO lost his second Code S finals in a row.

Yeah, no teammate bias at all. I'm sure he was good in in-house practice but to say he's a contender to win Code S because of that? Meh. This year Dark has proven himself in televised matches in PL and to some extent in the individual leagues.
I mean yeah he was good last year, everyone saw that. But this year he really looks to be on a completely new level.

Yeah, that's true. But since that, Dark really stepped it up. His results in GSL and SSL qualifications and mainly in ProLeague prove, that he is really good. The difference between now, and back then is, that he finaly started to win big offline matches.
My question is who put Life in a all P group and then puts Dark in an all T group..... first of all that means they only practice one match up, and they are both pretty damn amazing in those match ups.....
If Dark plays like he has been in Proleague, he will make it out of his group. I think his problem last year was nerves, and it looks like he has gotten over them.

Yes, agree totally
He is 20-5 in offline games in december and january, including a 3-0 vs parting and stomping maru and flash in PL and his play is looking really strong. It's like he's picking up the torch of imba macro zerg since SK left and soO cooled down
Dark's group is nuts. He's got great TvZ but TY, Dream and Maru are no slouches with regards to their TvZ. I feel sorry for Life, too; even if he has a decent chance to get out he's got so much vP. I guess practicing one matchup may help though. Also, I'm glad Fantasy is in a relatively easy group. Don't care about anyone else.
