I think it's more about the stress of playing in a tournament, and also thinking about how to play against your next opponent

It's easier to play a lot of games when you're at a team house and you don't have to move around or think about anything else or talk to people.

JD didnt really get any time to recuperate after that last intense series.

Fair enough, tournament pressure must make those games far more draining. Not sure how much player specific preparation is done in gaps between series though tbh.
In the end though it just sounds like a bunch of pre-johns in case JD loses which is lame.

Surprised that Jaedong is taking that forward base as his third (fourth when he takes his natural, of course).

The stress and fairness of a tournament matter a lot more than in ladder though. This is for a lot of money, and is a much bigger deal.
