Jade will be pissed

Jade gets his chance, nicely resolved I think! Shawn is usually great, mistakes happen, I'm glad he went back on his decision.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

They should compensate Starbuck for the time invested though. Not with something belonging to WCS, but just with a bit of money, worth the amout of time, he invested because of their mistake.

Yes, if he only got the account, because an admin told him, it would be ok, that would be appropriate as well.

paranOid cofirmed, that KrasS is playing under this name for multiple months, so everything should be correct there. Don't know about sLivko, but I don't think,we should assume, that something is weird, because he plays under another name, players do it all the time.

Shawn's statement from Reddit to close the drama.

ZergShawnGood 11 Punkte 14 minutes ago

Unfortunately we had to disqualify Starbuck from this qualifier. He borrowed an account from a friend in order to enter the qualifier. Borrowing accounts is not allowed. He will only be disqualified from this qualifier though, no further punishments.

As for the screenshot stating that ESL/myself were okay with him using someone else's account: I was left under the impression that this barcode account was actually Starbuck's barcode and that he was the one who amassed the 200 wins last ladder season. He explained that the account was given to him "forever".

A very unfortunate but avoidable misunderstanding. Since most of the players change their barcode accounts to their real name for this qualifier this kind of fell through the cracks. I should have taken the time to make sure that it was really his account that he was claiming to be his.

Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Or he could have not cheated his way into the qualifier in the first place?

He didn't cheat. He informed the admins. Cheating would be trying to betray the admins, as in not asking them, before the qualifier happened. He did inform the admins though, so there is no attempted betrayal and thus no cheat.

If it was fine he wouldn't have been disqualified. How can someone imagine that it's legit to play with someone else's account ?

I'm not saying that it is fine or legit. He broke the rules, thus the disqualification is fine. He did it unknowing and without malicious intent though, which for me is neccessary to lable something as cheating.

Still as I said earlier, this was caused by an admin, Starbuck wasted 3 hours because of an admins decision (and the entire seeding of the qualifier did get messed up because of that as well btw.) and thus the ESL should fix the damage, which was caused by an admins decision.

You should try out for WCS, 3/3 WCS EU casters are qualified. It's basically a physical law at this point

Doing sthg against the ToS, tournament rules and lieing or at least stretching the truth to the admin = no malicious intent. Cool world mouz fans are living in.

Who else would you ask about rules ,if not an admin? It's their job to make sure, everything is within the rules, so if they are informed about everything, it's their job, that everthing is fine.

Anyway, the admins mistake was corrected, everything should be solved now, back to the games.

if he straight up said he didn't got the 200 wins instead of being elliptic about an account permanently "gifted" to the admin, he would've reacted differently maybe....

Awesome, Phoenixes!

EDIT: But one-base all-in .

EDIT2: Ended up being better than I feared.
I bear this sig to commemorate the loss of the team icon that commemorated Oversky's 2008-2009 Proleague Round 1 performance.
