Seems likely. Maybe 2-0 Polt though

I really thought that today was her day. This is the most impressive run I've seen from her since her breakout IPL IMO. She went through back to back to back pros including motherfucking DongRaeGu before falling to Trap. It looks like she's improving all the time. I'm happy for her. She's right on that edge of being able to win a tournament like this, I hope she doesn't lose heart over this loss. Also, is anyone else bothered by the idea that people root against a player he or she is korean? I get rooting for someone from your own country, but the fact that so many people don't even want to watch a tournament because one nationality is good at the game seems wrong to me. yep, and the casters, without fail, will downplay the achievements of a korean player in favour of hyping the foreigner. I like when people support their favorite players for their playstyle rather than because they're from a certain country. It's really not anti-Korean as much as it is Pro-underdog. And if a caster goes into a match saying how it is likely that a foreigner is going to get stomped by any Korean they face then it's depressing and takes the fun out of it. Inori was the biggest underdog ever, but I heard no one but me cheering when he beat Stephano. You also have take into account into how the game goes. I remember being more impressed by how long Steph was able to hold on vs that 7-8 gate. isnt life vs stardust overgrowth better? Not saying Inori's the only one to ever do it. All I'm saying is that when you combine that with all the other factors, it was kinda hard to root for the guy. At the end of the day, if you find yourself fist pumping after a player win, that's all the reason you need to root for said player.

She's right on that edge of being able to win a tournament like this, I hope she doesn't lose heart over this loss. It's also just a numbers game at this point. I think Scarlett has proved over the last few weeks that she can hang with strong Koreans. But if you go into a bracket where you have to win 5-6 BoX vs good Koreans, even assuming you are every bit as good as any of the individually, odds are one of them is going to have your number some way along that path. A BO win, an unscouted all in, a really strong game from your opponent when you made some mistakes(as we just saw), all the stuff that happens when elite Koreans play each other. And when you are the only foreigner against 7+ Koreans most of them time, it's just a matter of mathematics, you won't be able to win that may games against really good players back to back unless the stars align. What we just saw was an incredibly performance. Over the last weeks she's beaten Taeja/MMA/Hyun/Ragnarok/DRG/Life/MC/Stork/Patience/Polt/Violet etc. I know people here are going to shit on her now that she lost and just generally be assholes while ignoring all she actually did, but that's just the internet. I'm happy about this result, and if you are a Scarlett fan so should you, because this is really about as much as we can hope for given the state of the game. You're totally right. Unfortunately for us, for a foreign hope to triumph, being as good as the Koreans (as Scarlett is) isn't good enough if she's the only champion we have. The numbers just don't add up. There's also a second truth though that I also realize. As good as these opponents are at this MLG, this isn't the top of the pyramid either. There's maybe only one to three players that you could argue could make a GSL Code S. Trap is one of them. The rest of these guys are Code A level. The gap between them and the guys at the very top is well....... Starcraft is tough, and the top Korean pros are just fucking good at it. Life and DRG were in code S. Trap is Code S level. Other than that yeah probably not. Leenock is kinda close. Code S round of 32 is now "kinda Code S". Considering how much the Ro32 has fluctuated these last couple of seasons, yea basically. There's a TON of players on that cusp of making Code A consistently and being eliminated in the Ro32. Then there's a tier of guys that consistently make Code S but can't make it past the Ro16. Then there's the freaks like Maru, Soulkey, soO and Zest who get "upset" if they don't make the Ro8. The GSL is quite the pyramid, and the players in it are without a doubt the best in the world. It's what makes it hands down my favorite SC2 tournament. All I'm saying is the Round of 32 is still Code S. I suppose it depends on your definition. I call guys like Trap and DRG "Code S capable/level" It's really only Life that I consider a true Code S player because he's been there consistently and made it to the Ro4 a season ago. The pinnacle of Code S, the players we see up there consistently, like Soo/Maru/Soulkey/Zest/Hero etc, are really in a different league. They are so much better than everyone else it's almost silly. I don't think holding foreign hopes and internationalized Koreans against that kind of standard is very productive or intelligent. I think you can compare GSL to the sc2 ladder system. Getting from Code A to Code S is like getting from Plat to Masters but getting from Ro32 Code S to ro8+ Code S is harder than getting from bronze to GM. skill gap is just too fackin big

I'm just saying that whenever I get hyped about how good some of the foreigners are, I have this image in the back of my head of how far away the top of the pyramid is and it's sobering. It really helps you to appreciate the skill of those guys though. When the best of the rest of the world isn't even in their league? It's fucking crazy. That's what almost two decades of Esports experience and unmatched infrastructure will do for you. As good as these guys are, they are also standing on the shoulders of giants, guys who made this possible with BW. I really don't see anyone else catching up any time soon, it's just not realistic to expect anyone to overcome that kind of mountain. Better to just think of them as mysterious deities living on Mount Olympus.
