I really hope Heart can get through but I can't look past HyuN and Jaedong qualifying. That said WCS AM Season 3 last year Heart got through the Ro16 in a group that contained both Jaedong and TaeJa so it's possible.

Wow, NA scene finally getting their passion back
We got our passion back before our players got WCS America back.
The last time Heart played Jim in WCS America, the MSC had 14 vision, Time Warps cost 75 energy, Tanks had a slower rate of fire, Vehicle weapons and Ship weapons were separate upgrades, Heart had just scratched and clawed his way back into Premier, and Jim has coming off a 5th-place finish in the previous season. Heart still won. Now, Heart also has a Zerg teammate to practice with who's been destroying everyone who crosses his path. Ax.Heart gets out of this group.

No accounting for the Chinese/Taiwanese misc. Funny things happen when it is collectively assumed your server is, if not behind, then just not playing quite the same game as EU/KR/NA.
I didn't see the games but knowing San he probably went for strong 2 base pressures. If HyuN can beat San in the dragon invitational tournament thing then I don't see how Jim stands a chance with any of these 2 base type attacks

Instead he just gave bad guys a warm and fuzzy feeling, which is probably why you never saw a concerted effort at the planeteers.

You're not really supposed to lose queens defending against terran harass. If you lose all or most of them, you're about to get fucked anyway since your opponent is quite a bit better than you.

The fact they terrans could play hellbats is scarier than actual hellbats. So zergs go roaches and die it seems.
When I think of Heart, I still get filled with anger towards the 1-1-1. Hard for me to forgive him (or ForGG) for his past ways even if he is playing amazing.

It's the attack du jour, it's been killing a lot of terrans in recent games. However, the meta always balances back and terrans are defending these much better now.

As long as you fight on creep, standard muta/bane/ling armies can overwhelm just fine still. I feel the threat is quite overstated. There is no reason for zergs to abandon a perfectly winnable macro game to coinflip and hope the terran doesn't see roaches coming.

i feel like the "roaches suck" outcry in this thread is really overblown. 1/1 roach or +1 armor roach are perfectly viable timing attacks against terran, as is roach/hydra/viper macro style. yes if the timing attacks are scouted and defended well the attack can look silly... isn't that all timing attacks?

I think the real problem with the roach attacks so far today is that they haven't had a good transition other than 'try again with more roaches'. If that is the way you are going to play, your first push has to do big damage and is just a huge gamble and I don't like it.

That was kinda skewed given the widow mines just killed a shit ton of marines. But yeah I think roach timings are fine against Terran but can get shut down harder than some other aggressive builds

I didn't say they can't be good or can't work or be powerful, but if you are playing with no transition at all and are banking on your push doing huge damage, I don't like it - I think it is just boring unless you are going to try and add a few other units into your comp like vipers or hydras. That's all I'm saying. It's not about what is good and what isn't. I just don't like it.

Yeah, but if that comp is to work once both players start maxing out, you really need vipers and infestors as well as a high hydra count. The role of the roach in that comp is to tank damage for the valuable units. Going pure roach after the timing is never going to work, the power of the build resides in the tech units and the casters.

Yeah, but if that comp is to work once both players start maxing out, you really need vipers and infestors as well as a high hydra count. The role of the roach in that comp is to tank damage for the valuable units. Going pure roach after the timing is never going to work, the power of the build resides in the tech units and the casters.
yeah i didn't read it clearly at first. but still, eh. it's just a miscalculation. sometimes you think you have a kill move if you reinforce ASAP, so you yolo it. if you're wrong you end up looking real bad

I'm starting to see a repeating pattern... Another terran winning 2-1, and then losing 2-1 after winning the first map... Heart 3-5 map score confirmed.
The difference between engaging on creep and without creep is as clear as day with Ling/Bane versus Bio. HyuN won that engagement so convincingly while Jaedong made a choice to engage off creep and got demolished.

I kinda want Jim to win this because he's an easier opponent for Heart than Jaedong. Not to say that he's easy of course, Jim is undoubtedly more than capable of taking down Heart but I fancy Heart's chances against Jim more than JD.

No Soo is actually utterly amazing. Double GSL Finals, ro4 in World Champs. Hasn't lost to a Protoss beyond Zest. He is just really really good. He doesn't even have a weakness.

he wasn't playing greedy in game 2 from what i could tell? i wasn't paying a ton of attention, but he had roaches and speed coming at about the right time for him to fight. he got supply blocked and didn't engage well enough. and gasless hatch pool hatch on alterzim with no way to OL scout the 4gate isn't really greed either. he should have been more active with his lings looking for pylons if anything

I don't know a single Zerg who can hold triple cannon-rush and bust immortals with roaches l0l. But soO is really ridiculously good, if he doesn't win Code S it will be even bigger injustice than sOs losing to Shine and preventing us from Soulkey-sOs-InNoVation-Zest group.
He doesn't lose in ZvP, his macro is solidly legit for fighting against InNoVation and other Terrans and when you can win in ZvZ against Life in Ro4 GSL Code S, i guess, you clearly don't have problem in that matchup as well.

and yes, you should be able to do damage to greedy zerg if you play well, but saying "hard counter" makes it sound like you think jim 4gating jd there should be autowin for toss, which is goofy

something i've wondered about - isn't it better to take 24 saturation on the natural until the third finishes instead of long distance mining? the last 8 workers don't do NOTHING, they just do LESS

i dont understand it, jim never saw a third cc, hallucianted phoenix scouts scvs and he still decides to stay on the low ground and not pull the probes, sigh. gg heart though, really impressive games by him today he deserves it
The result is expected but more dramatic than I thought Jim really should work on his vT though Losing to Heart is expected, but recently he started to lose to Chinese terrans, even those who are just amatuer players on weekly tournaments
