2012 was a horrible year. Vile eaten up and disbanded, Slayers disbanded, all the Jessica drama, BL-infestor. Horrible, just horrible.

It was just so frustrating. There wasn't any major balance issues prior to the patch, and then the balance team decides to introduce such drastic changes. Increase queen range from 3 to 4 would have been drastic enough, but they went all the way up to 5 range AND they gave overlords a speed buff.
ZvT was just broken, and PvZ was either an immortal sentry all in or try to get the vortex on the Broodlords. Dark days

The queen energy change was the most important one imo. Creep spread got insane, and they could play far more greedy
