Again it is the time of the year all of you know. eSports is coming home!
Once again we will have an amazing tournament in Krefeld, Germany, which the best players from all over the world will attend to play, relax and party at the event with the best atmosphere in eSports!
The 9th edition of this amazing event will take place from 5 - 8 June. As always, there will be a live barcraft at the event - in the Irish Pub “Limericks”. Scroll down to the section “public viewing” to get all the information about it.
As you might know we always play 2 group stages at the first 3 days, followed by a single elimination bracket on the final day. Only the best 2 players from a total of 4 in each group will move on to the next round until only 8 players are left to play the elimination bracket.
The group stage is played in a best-of-3 series but on the final day we will extend the series to a best-of-5 and the final will be played in a thrilling best-of-7 series! All games will be shown on stream. For this we will provide two english streams with professional casters like RotterdaM and of course all the progamers who are available on site. The games will start at 2 pm every day.
The first group stage will be divided into two days, showing four groups per day. On the third day we will have a 2nd group stage where the remaining 16 players fight for a slot in the playoffs. On the final day we will only have the 8 playoff matches: 4, quarterfinals, 2 semifinals, the third place match and ultimately the grand final at the end of the tournament.
1st $10,000
2nd $6,500
3rd $3,000
4th $2,000
5th - 8th $875
We're pleased to work with Blizzard to make HomeStoryCup 9 a StarCraft II World Championship Series (WCS) Global Event. The top players in the tournament will earn WCS points that contribute to their ranking in the WCS Standings. The players will be competing not only for the prize money and the glory of a HomeStoryCup championship, but also WCS points that could help them in the journey to the WCS Global Finals. For more information about WCS, visit: http://www.starcraft2.com/wcs/
For those of you who want to watch this tournament live we'll prepare the same experience as always:
The Irish pub “Limericks”, located directly below the TaKeTV studio, will provide a big screen for all days of the HomeStoryCup and the location will even become a part of the event itself. In addition to that you can use the opportunity to talk to other fans, your favourite players and of course receive some autographs!
The pub will open at 1:30 pm every day (30 minutes before the event starts).
Adress: Wiedenhofstraße 60, 47798 Krefeld

Honestly i dont really like that this HSC gives WCS points, i am a bit afraid it has to be more serious then. I could imagine that Blizzard has some rules like "no you can´t play a professional Looping Louie Tournament" or "nope Rotterdam, Tarson and Stephano cant cast while beeing drunk at a WCS Points tournament".

And these are things HSC is all about.
HSC VII also gave WCS points and nothing was different.

The thing is that the competitive requirements for a tournament it have WCS points is ridiculously low. If I recall correctly, only 25% of all slots is required to be determined via qualifiers. In my opinion, it should be 25% slots via invites only. Either way, I am looking forward to this, I hope I can get the opportunity to be there in person.
You really put on a great tournament Take. Awesome atmosphere, everyone having a great time; a joy to watch both the games and even the down time. Would love to see more War3 show matches and some boss-toss casting of course.

i love HSC <3
wc3 mini tournament would be awesome since many of players used to be wc3 pros. Take pls make it happen! Stephano, Grubby, Tod, Rotti and others would still kick asses
Destiny just said on stream that he will go to HSC. Excellent news imo, as he will make the couch even funnier. Just put him between iNcontrol and Rotti .
So now both Stork and Jaedong will be there.. would be amazing if Flash was invited and have the three of them cast a few games. I don't understand Korean at all but I'm pretty sure they get along great and have a lot of banter. And Jaedong seems to have at least understandable English by now.
I still remember the epicness of the Kespa invitational at MLG and seeing them play SC2 for the first time. We've really come a long way since then.
Sadly we couldn't get every pro to webcam chat with us, so here is the full player list: Bomber Welmu Patience Bling Snute ret tlo Taeja Bunny MaNa NightEnD ToD MC Socke MMA Incontrol DemusliM Jaedong Hastem Grubby Dayshi White-ra HasuObs JJAKJI Scarlett Stephano Yoda Targa roof firecake armani stork
